Harry couldn't have been able to tell you why he was kissing Narcissa Malfoy. Only that he felt completely exhilarated as he felt her lips against his. Only that his heart accelerate at the sound of her soft moans and how he pulled her close. It was only the two them and nothing else. It felt like a fairytale from long ago, a fast-pacing love affair that seemed to be only starting. The Battle of Hogwarts had changed the two forever she had saved his life and in return he did the same, and they couldn't stop being in debt with one another. So they instead decided to become friends, friends that turned into lovers in a matter of months.
It was if they understood each other perfectly. It didn't matter that Narcissa was old enough to be his mother or that she once had sided with the dark side. What mattered was that he felt complete when he was with her and vice versa. The only thing that stood in their way was Ginny Weasley and Lucius Malfoy. Narcissa was still painfully married and Ginny was very much in love with Harry. Lucius would refuse to divorce Narcissa and Harry wouldn't have it in him to break Ginny's heart again.
They sink into the shadows instead because it's easier and nobody has to be hurt that way. They had to learn not to stare at each other too long in public, how to get away with lingering touches, and when they give stolen kisses. There had been many occasions where they would utter the words 'I love you' and mean those three words. But their perfect world could have only lasted so long before they were exposed. It wasn't fair that they were condemned for their love. Not fair at all.
