It's unbearably painful attempting to swallow the screams of a banshee.

It starts out as a low hum in the back of your throat and quickly becomes an earthquake of the lungs, rattling your bones and tearing you apart from the inside out.

It even shakes your teeth.

Allison finds out the hard way that you can't stop a banshee's scream.

Her nose is still bleeding as she digs a grave for the little werewolf girl and of course Derek can't tell her enough how stupid she is as he helps her dig.

Lydia wasn't the type to forget.

The image of Allison's bloody nose keeps company the image of an Oni's sword through her abdomen in Lydia's mind, and nightmares keep company other nightmares.

The feeling of a thick, raised scar against her finger tips as she's sleeping is the reason that she rarely sleeps, it's the reason that Allison sleeps with her stomach bandage when there's no need.

She tells Lydia daily that she isn't afraid to die for her and Lydia believes her because it's happened, there's proof.

She believes her like she used to believe their world was safe, like she used to believe that werewolves weren't real, like she used to believe that their lives would be normal.

Allison takes a bullet for her to prove her point and yes, it does have bane in it, and no, Lydia doesn't scream for Allison, but when she screams for that stupid, lost hunter with the gun everyone gets scared before they realize that Allison's arrow hit the marksman.

Now it's the scar on her shoulder that keeps Lydia awake and she can't heal Allison's wounds but Allison can certainly heal hers, nothing is allowed to hurt her banshee.

There's a difference between a banshee scream and a Lydia scream, the ear piercing intensity of it seems slightly dull and there's this sense of relief in the sound of it.

Lydia's screams are the type to hit your throat first and slowly work their way into your soul.

They take your breath away.

You can even ask Allison.
