Annabeth's POV
I was sitting next to Bobby in the car back home when Percy's new info finally sank in. Luke betrayed Camp Half-Blood. He was the one that sent the pit scorpion on Percy. He was the one who stole the Master Lightning Bolt and the Helm of Darkness. Luke. I saw him a hero. He promised we-him, Thalia and me- would be a family. Thalia was a tree. Now Luke had betrayed me when he betrayed the camp. I had nobody. (A/n: Get it? In the Sea of Monsters, Percy is Nobody.)
When the news fully sank in, I started to cry. It started with a single tear going down my cheek. After that, it went to all out sobbing.
"Annabeth, you all right?" asked my father. My father, a mortal, wouldn't understand the problems of a demigod. He doesn't understand what it's like to be betrayed by the person you saw a hero.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, in between sobs.
"You don't sound all right," said Dad, with a look of concern in his eyes.
"I'll, I'll tell you later," I said, not even loking at him.
********************LINE BREAK******************
(Annabeth's eyes are red and puffy from all that crying in the car. Mr. Chase is in her room to talk about why she was crying.)
"Annabeth, sweetie, you can tell me. Please tell me," pleaded Dad.
I still had tears in my eyes from the car ride here. I did tell him I would tell him why in the car.
"Okay. For you to understand, I guess I should start from the beginning. From when I left." I said to Dad.
"Oh," was all he said.
I sat down on my bed as I began the story. How I found Luke and Thalia. How he promised we would a family. Dad looked sad when I explained that part. Next I said how Grover found us. I started crying when I got to the part where Thalia got turned into a tree. I told him Luke was all I had left and how I saw him as a hero. Then how Percy came along and got offered a quest and how he asked me to tag along on the quest. Skipping the whole part about what happened on the quest ('cause I wasn't feeling like sharing), I stared repeating what Percy said happened in the woods. How Luke said he seved Kronos and he stole the Master Lightning Bolt and the Helm of Darkness. How he sent the pit scorpion on Percy .
By then, I sobbing and Dad was holding me.
Why Luke, of all demigods! Why me, to suffer to pain of loss, out of hundreds, me. Why Thalia, of all half-bloods, she gtes turned into a fricking tree! Why us, the broken family?
