As the sun set perfectly along the horizon, and the moon rose full into the golden red sky, the redhead heard the Slytherin enter the tower behind her.
He stood beside her now, as the last of the light faded off the edge of the earth and darkness enveloped them, leaving only each other and the stars for company.
Ginny Weasley looked up at the round orb and sighed. Somewhere tonight Remus Lupin doesn't exist…she thought.
She acknowledged him. "Hey Malfoy." She spoke softly.
"Weaslette." He nodded his greeting, his eyes never leaving the stars. "Been awhile." He added after a few minutes of dazzling silence.
"Only a few nights." Ginny pointed out. "Felt longer though."
Draco Malfoy reached over and gently pulled at Ginny's face, forcing her eyes to meet his. He bent down, and briefly brushed his lips against hers. "Why do we do this to ourselves?" he sighed.
"Because we're two hormonal sex-driven teenagers who happened to share a night of lust and passion together and enjoyed it?" she supplied.
Malfoy nodded slowly. "Could be." He kissed her again. "Or maybe you fancy me so much you can't stay away."
"Countless nights spent with me and you're still obnoxiously conceited." Ginny grinned. "But quite the contrary. I utterly despise you Draco Malfoy, Slytherin god. I can't help it if there's a physical attraction."
"And I you, my feisty Gryffindor." Malfoy drew her close, and captured her mouth with his once again. Ginny, in turn, wrapped her arms around her secret lover.
It was more passionate than any other night they spent together.
It could have been said that Draco Malfoy had made love to her, had he actually…loved her.
As beautiful as it was, and as peaceful as Ginny felt afterwards, wrapped in his arms pressed up against his pale body, she knew with a small feeling of dismay that he'd be gone before the sun touched the morning sky, before it changed from its deep navy gray to the dismal purples and frail pinks. He always was.
But as Ginny opened her eyes to the bright light of the autumn morning she realized something odd. She wasn't cold, as she usually was in the morning. She was comfortably warm, in fact. She cuddled into the source of the warmth, closing her eyes again and moaning softly. She sighed with bliss as smooth pale hands ran down her arms and across her stomach.
He was still there.
But why? Why hadn't he left?
The question came out more bluntly then she meant it to. "What are you doing here?"
"Well I was trying to keep you warm, but if I'm not wanted here…" Malfoy made to get up.
"No!" Ginny pulled him back down, kissing him hungrily.
"You don't have to bribe me…" Draco trailed off as he laid down next to her once more, wrapping his arms around her, rocking and lulling her back to sleep.
When the steady rise and fall of her chest conveyed that Ginny was once again lost in sleep, Malfoy murmured the words he had uttered the first night they had been together, and every night after that.
"I love you, Ginerva Weasley, my feisty Gryffindor."
