IT WON'T HURT A BIT
The crises was over, the last infected person was making a good recovery. The terrible threat of bubonic plague had been averted, thanks to the dedication of Steve McGarrett and the Five 0 team.
The hospitals had arranged a city wide inoculation programme under the guise of an outbreak of Asian Flu. It had been very successful and there had been no panic except for when Danny, Chin and Kono had been called to have their jabs. They had all protested, but succumbed to the inevitable. The very pretty Dr. Alexander Kemp had called them all big babies.
"I believe there is another member of your team that needs to be inoculated" she had said to Danny Williams as he'd stood rubbing his arm. As she had spoken, Steve McGarrett the head of Five 0 himself had walked in. He had met Dr Kemp at a meeting with the Governor several days previously and had been rather stunned by her beauty and intelligence. Even the Governor had noticed Steve's look and had exchanged glances with him.
"Ah Mr McGarrett, such good timing, I have just inoculated your team, now it is your turn" She had said with a smile, that quite made Steve's pulse rate speed up.
Danny, Chin and Kono had to practically tear Steve's coat off, "No, no it's ok, I had jabs when I was a kid, I must be immune." McGarrett had protested, as he was almost dragged over to the Doctor by the three laughing men.
"Not this one," Dr Kemp had said. "I imagine you have suffered every possible pain in the book, Mr. McGarrett, yet you are afraid of a little jab, just look ahead, it won't hurt a bit
Steve had looked straight into her beautiful velvet brown eyes.. "Ouch, Doctor, I bet you enjoyed that". He'd said as she'd dabbed his arm with an antiseptic swab.
"It's a good profession to be in if one wants to inflict pain legally" She had laughed, a pretty tinkling laugh, it had sounded like music to his ears.

He stood by the window of the hospital room where Dr. Kemp was checking the last recovering patient. She left the room and took off her mask. "Thank God the crises is over." she said with a long sigh. "Thanks to you and your team, Mr. McGarrett.
"The name's Steve", he said tilting his head. "We had a little help from you Doctor and you look tired." his voice softened in a note of sympathy.
"It's Alex," she countered, lowering her eyes. "Have you looked in the mirror lately Steve?" she picked up his name without hesitation.
"Only when I shave and that's usually on the run." he answered, his blue eyes twinkling.
"And, when was the last time you ate a proper meal and I mean sitting down?" Alex asked him.
"Well…. Alex," he emphasised her name. " If I had someone to sit and eat with, I might make an exception." His wide eyed smile held a questioning look.
She gave the little tinkling laugh he had liked so much when she had given him the jab.
"If that's an invitation, Mr McGarrett, I would love to have dinner with you."
