This idea came to me and I just had to try and use it. It's been around for sometime. No story just an idea. As always I don't own anything. Please read and review. Thanks
WHISPERINGS
By SARAH HALL
As he lies on his cot trying to fall into the land of dreams but failing as he so often does. He thinks he can hear a noise it sounds like a whisper of wind, it could be the wind but he fears what he is hearing is the whisperings of all the ghosts of all the dead soldiers, he was unable to save in their hour of need. Every time he looses another soldier when he is lying awake that night, he is sure he can hear another whisper. The noise is silent when he has drunk enough alcohol that he can not remember falling asleep. But then in the morning, he can not remember what happened anyway. So that is why he ends up drunk so often so he can not hear the whispers so they can not haunt him. The other time he cannot hear the whispers is when he is so tired that his brain blanks out.
The ghosts seem to only be there when he is on his own and his head is swimming with thought and feelings he would rather try to forget. Sometimes he is the man whispering sweet nothings in his own lover's ear but even then, he does it so he does not have to hear those ghosts. In his normal life, he would not have loved so many so often but this is not a normal life.
THE END
Well what do you think? If you think you can carry it on well please have a go.
