I decided to write a one-shot because I was feeling inspired. Enjoy.

Elphaba jumped down from the tree with her books in hand. Recently she had become a pro at climbing and finding the perfect tree. It was the best way to avoid Avaric and his gang. Not that they bothered her they were just… loud and very annoying.

She was on her way beck to her shared dorm with Galinda. They had just recently become friends. Galinda had been nice so far but Elphaba still suspected her friendship was some sort of a trick. Maybe it was just because she had trouble trusting after her father. He was supposed to be supportive and loving instead he was cruel and cold-hearted. At least he was nice to her sister Nessa.

She was so concentrated in her thoughts that she wasn't watching where she was going and promptly slammed into something in fount of her.

"Oh my Oz! Are you okay?" A male voice called out.

"I- I think so." She said, rubbing her head where she had hit it.

"Here. Let me help you." He said, reaching out his hand for her to take. She glanced at it hesitantly then placed her hand in his. Immediately she felt a chill run through her. She let him help her up and as she straightened up she met eyes with him. Brown met with blue and it felt as if everything froze. Something felt strangely right with her hand in his. She pulled away quickly, unwilling to let her hand linger in his. What was this feeling?

"I- uh thanks." She said, feeling nervous all of the sudden. What was this? No. She wouldn't… she couldn't. "I have to go." She said firmly as she started to walk off.

"I'm going the same direction." He said as he ran after her. "May I have the pleasure of walking with you?" He asked with a wink.

Was he… flirting with her? The artichoke? The wilted lettuce leaf? No. "Only if you stop that."

He nodded and smiled. "That can be arranged." He paused, waiting for her to start the conversation but when she didn't, he did. "So what were you doing up in a tree?"

"Oh… you saw that?" He nodded and smiled. "I like reading."

"In trees?"

She nodded. "Do you have a problem with it?" She asked, defensively.

"No, it's just… unusual."

"Unusual? Is that meant to be an insult?"

"No…. it's just different." He smirked. "I like it."

She hesitated. "Thank you?" He smiled. She couldn't help but smile aswell but quickly recovered. Was she… falling for him? No. No. Not possible. And even if she was there was no way he would fall for her. But if he did… No! Don't even think about it. Get your thoughts together. Are you going insane?

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Fine." She said a bit too quickly.

"Are you sure-" He started.

"FIFI!" A shrill voice cried out.

"Wait, Fifi? As in Fiyero?" He nodded, smiling.

"Took you long enough."

"FIFI!" Galinda called out again before running and wrapping her arms around him before kissing him passionately right in front of Elphaba. He shot her an apologetic look.

"Oh hi, Elphie!" Galinda said as soon as she noticed Elphaba. "Sorry!" She said with a sheepish grin. "Do you know Fifi?"

"Yes." She said coldly. "We've been introduced."

"Good!" She said with a smile. "Fifi and I were just going t get some food. Would you like to come?" Fiyero sent her some sort of sad smile which confused her to no end. Why on earth would he be sad? He had no reason to be. After all he was dating an Upland.

"No thank you." She said coldly.

Galinda seemed a little taken back by her response but recovered swiftly and returned to her usual bubbly self. "Well… see you later Elphie. Bye!"

And with that Elphaba was left alone with so many questions. Why did she feel so strange? Why was Fiyero so friendly and last of all why did he seem so sad?

So be happy I decided to post this one-shot . I'll update Emerald- Skinned Beauty soon. I've got it all drafted in my head I just need to write it out. Please review.
