A/N: This is a MerDer fanfic. I know I haven't updated She Doesn't Even Know with the second chapter yet...I kind of had writer's block...but I am almost done with the second chapter. So while y'all were patiently waiting I had this other idea that came to me and I decided to write it. It's not my best because I kind of did it in a hurry. But I really want to know what y'all think. I hope you like it!
Disclaimer: No…I still don't own Grey's Anatomy…or sadly, Patrick Dempsey
Still He Waits
Meredith. Her name was Meredith.
And she was gone.
She was his world, his life, his everything. And she was gone. She had left. She was going to Boston, where she had gotten a job offer.
……………………………………………………………………
She had thought about it for a long time and eventually decided to go. It would be good to get away, get a fresh start. Maybe it would be easier to convince herself she doesn't love him. After all, she can't love him- he's married.
He tried to convince her not to go. He said that she couldn't go, who would be his friend? Who would he be "just friends" with? And what about Doc?
But she had to go. She had to leave. No matter how painful it was, no matter how hard it was to leave her friends, who were also her family.
No matter how hard it was to leave him- her world, her life, her everything, she still had to go. She has to at least try to move on, because she can't wait around forever.
………………………………………………...
They all went to the airport to see her leave, even him. He had insisted. After all, they were friends. But he still stands there, in the same position he was two hours ago when he watched her plane fly out of view. The others had all left, but still he waits. He waits for her, hoping she'll come out of a terminal and say that she couldn't leave. But no one comes. And still he waits.
……………………………………………...
Life hasn't been too good without her. He's falling apart; his heart's breaking a little more each day. And still he waits. He waits for it to pass- this pain, this longing, this emptiness, and this love. He waits for it to pass. But he doesn't want it to. He doesn't want his love for her to pass, so he waits for her to come back.
But one day, he realizes that it's time. It's time to quit waiting. So he can either go after her and actually start living or he stay where he is, never fully living again because she's not here and continue feeling like there's something missing.
Derek Shepherd stands in front of a window. He's watching the planes go by, and he's waiting. He's waiting for his plane to take off, and in his hand is a plane ticket.
And the ticket says
Boston.
Ok honestly...what did you think? I know it wasn't that great...so I'm sorry about that...but, I wanted to write it so I did. I don't have a lot of time right now so I didn't have time to make it that great but I really hope you liked it! Oh...and I know I didn't say anything about Derek and Addison getting a divorce...I hope you kind of assumed it happened or you figured he would divorce her after they came back. Do what you want with their divorce...BUT they did get divorced.
Please tell me what you think!
Mads
