A/N: This takes place at the end of the movie where Tamina meets Dastan for the "first" time. Felt an urge to explore a bit of their relationship, especially from Tamina's point of view, because to me there's such a special feeling around it, around them: they're really and truly meant to be together.
He was a strange man her betrothed, prince Dastan.
He lacked the obstinate pride in his own person which many of her previous suitors had; a trait, which, to her, was like the relief of water for someone who'd been in the desert for years. His upbringing could not have secured this vital quality in him so she could only deduce that it stemmed from within, something for which was all the more admirable.
He'd given her the dagger back and she'd sensed from his demeanour that he knew of its powers. It puzzled her how he could have gained such knowledge and even more so that he would willingly return it.
He was a riddle of a man, one she would find pleasure in unravelling and getting to know.
It was to her previously unaccustomed to, but when he looked at her he gazed into her eyes, apparently more interested in knowing her mind than her body. It was such a new experience for her, to be seen only as Tamina, that she was as invariably drawn to him as a moth is to a flame.
She would fall in love with him, could already feel the tugging of her heartstrings, and the gentle expression she saw in his eyes told her of equal feelings inside of him.
Tamina placed her hand in his and her heart fluttered.
