Light Shining Through
The morning light broke through the blinds, caressing her face with its golden touch. Its brightness slowly bringing her to wakefulness.
He was laying next to her, their legs tangled up together in the sheets bunched around them. They'd experienced something awful and turned to each other for comfort. They'd taken a fall and in the aftermath of Angel's death and then Danny being shot and possibly paralyzed, it felt like the darkest night. It was like the stars had turned their backs on them. So they'd turned to each other in an effort to find some way to cope with the trauma.
They'd collided with each other, trying to solve their emotions with physical comfort. They'd fallen out the back and found something much more than simple comfort. They'd found each other and that was so much more than they expected to find.
He snuggled in closer to her, spooning against her back, watching the sun continue its journey into the sky. He placed soft kisses on her shoulder. He felt, more than heard her response as she pressed back against him.
"I've been waiting for this for so long." She whispered softly.
"With me, or in general?" He asked, unsure of how she felt beyond their lust for physical contact.
"With you, only with you." She mumbled in the hazy realm of half sleep. "What took us so long?"
"We weren't ready. We were never on the same path until now. Here, this moment in time, everything aligned and we were ready for everything to happen. It doesn't matter what triggered it, only that it was the right moment for us. She turned over then, to face him. She placed soft kisses across his face, before settling a deeper one on his lips.
"It feels like everything will be ok. We're still in for a rough ride. I know that we'll be ok though, all of us." She said softly.
"I hope you're right." He mumbled into her neck.
"I hope so too. I love you, Mac."
"I love you too, Stella."
The dawn is braking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide
