There was a soft jolt.

And then a harder one, followed by a bit of a punch even though the first shake had already woken him up.

"I'm up, I'm up."

Some irritated noise came from the source of the disturbance. "You know. You could be a little more conscientious, I've been waiting for about fifteen minutes."

Still half-asleep, he threw the covers off, annoyed. "What? Why, and what time is it?" He glanced out the window and saw that the sun was nothing but a dim hue hinting at its arrival.

"Um, it's about... five. Maybe, I don't know. Six."

It looked more like four.

"Why would anyone-" punch someone awake this early in the morning, be awake this early in the morning, expect him to wake up this early in the morning--

"Just... just make me some breakfast, would you?"

He sounded mean and rough, like he usually did after being left to brood for too long. It was the kind of attitude no one could take so early in the morning, as the person obviously required a certain amount of energy to handle. But, with a patience hard-earned through experience, he did as he always did, and smiled up at him.

"Sure thing, what would you like?"

As always, a warm flush on the other's cheeks appeared-- it made him look happy, pleased at being so cared for. "Pancakes." He wasn't really smiling, but the shine in his eyes told Sora that it was a very near thing.

"What kind?"

His shoulders began to relax. It seemed he still wasn't satisfied because he continued, "Blueberry, chocolate chip, and pumpkin." He was probably being serious at this point, knowing him.

"That's all?" Sora yawned, as if it proved his point. "I'll whip those up easy." He laid back down in the bed and could feel sleep coming back to him immediately.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

Moments passed, and maybe Sora fell asleep for a bit because before he knew it, Roxas was pulling the covers over them both. He smelled like he'd been deep within the island all day.

"I'm sorry I woke you up."

Sora smiled, and drew himself closer to the boy next to him. "It's okay. We'll wake up in a couple of hours, and I'll make us breakfast."

He felt Roxas sigh against his hand, which he had drawn up near his face to hold within his own. He seemed to really feel bad about it this time when he said, "Okay."

Soon, they were both asleep.
