I came up with this story on a whim. I hope you enjoy it. I have a couple more stories centered around Cosmo and Poof that I'll be posting soon. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy this little thing.

"AHHH!" Timmy and Poof screamed as a giant rattle snake chased after them.

"Poof, I said a giant shake, not a giant snake!" Timmy exclaimed breathlessly.

Poof shook his rattle in an attempt to get rid of the snake. Suddenly, the snake skidded to a stop. The boys were relieved at first. But then the snake popped out a second head.

"AHHHH!" They screamed again.

"I wish Wanda was here!"

Poof shook his rattle and Wanda immediately appeared wearing an apron.

"What the-" she began but was cut off by screaming and hissing. She looked around and saw Poof and Timmy running for their lives from a two headed snake.

"I WISH THE SNAKE WAS GONE!" Timmy screamed

"Gah!" She quickly poof'd it away.

Timmy and Poof stopped running and caught their breathes.

"Thanks, Wanda." Timmy said then turned to glare at Poof.

"Sorry, Timmy." Poof said putting his head down.

"What happened?" Wanda asked, floating towards the boys.

"Poof has been messing up all my wishes today." Timmy said throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

"I'm sorry Timmy." Poof said sadly. Wanda pulled him into an embrace.

Timmy suddenly felt bad for the way he talked to Poof. He loved Poof and he usually had fun with him. But today had been very stressful with all of his misinterpretations of wishes. Timmy knew he was still learning and trying to control his magic. But Poof was worse than Cosmo today.

"It's okay Poof. I know you're trying. I'm sorry for being so harsh with you." He said to the young fairy.

"It's okay, Timmy. I messed up a lot today." He said with a half hearted smile at his god brother.

He turned his attention back to Wanda. "Is daddy back yet?"

"No, he's still in Fairy World. But he should be back soon." She poof'd the three of them back into Timmy's room.

"Timmy, dinner's ready." Timmy's mom called as soon as they were inside.

"Gotta go guys." Timmy left his room, closing the door behind him.

Wanda could see tears form in Poof's eyes. She hated seeing her baby so upset. "Come on Poof, you can help me make dinner for daddy." Poof smiled.

Wanda poof'd herself and Poof into the kitchen inside the castle.

"POOF, NO!" Wanda yelled as an explosion happened inside the oven.

Black smoke emanated from the oven door and sparks began flying everywhere.

"Sorry, mama." Poof said, hunging his head.

"It's alright sweetie." Wanda sighed. "Why don't you go watch tv while I clean this up?!"

"I can clean it up." He said and he shook his rattle.

The faucet suddenly shot water all over the place.

"Sorry, I can fix that." He said.

But before he could shake his rattle, Wanda grabbed it from him.

"That's okay, sweetie. I can manage it. Just go relax and I'll call you if I need you."

Poof sighed and floated out of the kitchen. He made his way up to his room and threw himself face down on his bed. He thought about everything that happened. It really was a bad day. Every time he tried to use his magic, it backfired. Even doing simple things like poofing up a snack went wrong.

No matter how much he tried, he just couldn't do anything right. The more he thought about everything that happened, the sadder he got. Finally he felt tears sting his eyes.

Sometime later he heard a knock on his door and sat up wiping the tears from his face.

"Come in." He said gently.

Cosmo appeared inside the room and smiled at his son.

"Hey, Poof!" He said in his usual chipper tone.

"Hi daddy." Poof said, averting his eyes.

Cosmo smiled as he floated over to the young fairy and sat down on the edge of his bed. His smile fell slightly when he noticed Poof had been crying.

"I heard you had a bad day."

Poof nodded and his lip quivered.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Cosmo asked gently, placing an arm around Poof.

"I just..." his eyes welled up with tears again. "I keep messing everything up. All day I've done nothing but make mistakes." He managed quitely.

Cosmo nodded in understanding. He of all people knew how Poof felt. He was notorious for making mistakes and he often wished he could do everything right too.

"I understand, buddy. I make mistakes sometimes too."

Poof raised an eyebrow. "Sometimes?"

"Okay, I make mistakes all the time." He chuckled. "But you know what?" He asked with a smile

"What?"

"The best part of making mistakes is learning from them. And having people there who care enough about you to help you. Like your mother. She always helps me fix my mistakes and she helps me learn from them."

Poof sighed. "But earlier, when I was helping her make dinner, I blew up the oven and the faucet. Then she sent me away. She's mad at me, I just know it." A tear slid down his face.

Cosmo looked at him sympathetically. He could read Poof's feelings. That's one thing they have in common. They are both sensitive and constantly afraid of upsetting other people.

"Poof, your mother isn't mad at you. She just wanted you to relax and regain yourself. You see, when we use magic too much, it wears us out and we are more likely to make mistakes when we are worn out." He smiled at his son. "That's why your mother sends me away sometimes. So I can regain myself and not make as many mistakes."

"Really?" Poof perked up a little. "So that's why you go to Fairy World a lot?"

Cosmo nodded. "Uh huh. I just go and do something that I enjoy. Like sit at the cheese shop and eat all the samples."

Poof laughed. Then his smile fell. "But what about Timmy? I made a mistake every time he made a wish. The last wish was the worst!"

"Well, Timmy forgives me every time I mess up a wish, which is practically every time. So I think he'll forgive you too."

Poof sighed. "I made a giant two headed snake chase after us." He looked away in shame.

Cosmo laughed. "Oh, Poof, if that's the worse you've done, I know he'll forgive you."

"I hope so." He sighed.

"I know he will! Trust me, I've made worse mistakes than that!" Cosmo said. "Do you want to know a secret?" He suddenly asked.

Poof was intrigued. "Ooo a secret?! Tell me, tell me!" He bounced up and down on his bed.

Cosmo laughed at his eagerness. "You're going to make a great godparent one day!" He said smiling widely at his son.

Poof beamed at that. He really wanted to be a godparent one day and it made him feel good that someone thought he would be good at it.

"Thanks daddy." He said hugging Cosmo.

Wanda poof'd into the room. "Dinner is ready."

Poof looked from Cosmo to Wanda then got up and gave Wanda a big hug.

"I'm sorry for blowing up the oven and the faucet, mama."

"Oh Poof, don't worry about it. We all have bad days." Wanda said kissing her son on the cheek. "Now, go wash up for dinner."

He smiled and poof'd out of the room.

Cosmo and Wanda lingered in the room for a moment, smiling at each other.

"Well, he seems to be in a better mood." Wanda noted.

"Yeah, he was pretty upset when I came in. But he does seem a lot better now."

Wanda floated to Cosmo and wrapped her arms around him.

"And you were worried you wouldn't be a good dad." She said as she kissed his cheek.

They smiled at each other again before poofing into the kitchen to join their son for dinner.
