"Quiet"
Smoke billowed as the dust slowly settled, revealing burned and charred earth. A bloody battle has taken place here. A gruesome scene of bodies and fire. There her body lay, broken and bloody as the earth."It hurts...",She tried to move her arm, but to no avail. "I can barely feel anything now, but the harsh ache in my body...in my mind...", Her eyes closed. "..In my soul." She coughed, turning her head to look weakly at her fallen comrades. They lie motionless next to her, burned, beaten...dead...and yet...not defeated. She stared a bit longer before turning the other way, looking on her Second and closest friend. Tears pricked at her eyes as she gazed at his body. The enemy had been strong, but not strong enough. "You fought bravely brother...". The words seemed to echo on the wind as she she then looked to the grey-filled sky. "I never wanted this...Why?...". She clenched her teeth."Why did they have to die?...Why not just me?.." Pain suddenly shot through her battered body, the jagged hole in her chest still pouring out precious blood. She stiffled a yelp and her body went limp. "My death is near now...i can feel it..". She once again turned her fading green eyes to the sky as an eagle cried on the rising sun. Her heart hurt, but not from her physical wound. Her most feared enemies now destroyed, but at what cost? Her sight beginning to blur, a light snow slowly drifted to the land below. "..Snow?...How ironic...". Her breaths were ragged and coming less and less. The wind slightly picked up and a clear sky appeared as she stared, the sun setting everything ablaze with it's bright fire. She closed her eyes and a single tear fell upon the snow. "So this is what it feels like...finally..for things to be quiet...". The blackness slowly crept in, engulfing her and taking away the pain. She opened her eyes for one last time, gazing on the fading light of the sun. "So this is what its like...for things...to be quiet...Quiet like the snow..."
