Harry James Potter, the boy who lived drank his coffee as he examined the new fan mails he had received.
One would say his fame would die after 3 years but it seemed as if the wizards and witches still couldn't be thankful enough.
He had been going through it all when he suddenly noticed the unfamiliar purple envelope tied with a golden ribbon. With no address, it seemed dark to Harry, but then again everything seemed dark nowadays. Auror days just weren't for him anymore. It was tiring.
Deciding he had no choice but to open it, he did so.
Dear Mr. Potter,
You have been invited to the annual ball hosted by the Ministry of Magic every ten years
We, the office of magical events and celebrations would like to let you know that you must
Bring your partner with you.
It will be held on the 7th April a Sunday, in the ball room located at ministry of magic.
We hope to see you there,
The office of magical events and celebrations.
With best wishes,
The ministry of magic.
That was odd. In two years of working at the ministry, almost three he had never heard of the annual ball, now he thought of the ball room he had passed by so many times. He always wondered what that was for.
His stomach growled, interrupting his thoughts. "Fine", he thought, "I'll make something for you". As he walked to the fridge to get an egg out, a sudden burst of flame interrupted his morning routine.
Turning he thought of who come to his home at this time of the morning. No one would ever drop by, and considering the fact that no nark wizards or witches roamed anymore he felt no fear.
He thought it'd be Ginny, after all they dated for a long time but it just didn't work. He realized that he only liked her but he was not in love with her. He was gay and Ginny, no matter how wonderful she was, didn't interest him at all anymore. In fact she never did.
But truthfully, ever since he dumped her, she had changed. She became angrier, grumpier and frankly more annoying. She would drink a lot now. But worst of all, she'd try to bed Harry whenever possible because she believed that Harry just needed to be reminded that she was his everything and that they're made for each other. And whenever there was a meeting or something at the ministry, she'd bat her eyes at him and try to flirt but he simply waved her off. In fact during Hermione and Ron's wedding, Ginny tried to take Harry as her partner there but he refused.
"Ginny, if you are here for the ball then go away. I won't go with you." Harry declared thinking that Ginny would not ask for a reason why.
"It's me Potter, no weaslette here" A certain grey eyed man yelled from the living room of Harry's home.
"Malfoy? Wha... What are you doing here?"
"Let's skip the small talk. We both know you are interested in men, as am I. We are both aurors and I don't believe either of us have a choice but to go to the stupid ball. Pansy has been killing me ever since the letter arrived. We bot also know you do not want to go with the weaslette. I don't believe there are any young men available at the ministry who are gay and considering my reputation as a death eater, no one would want to go with me."
Harry stared.
"Ugh how dumb can you be. I am asking you if you'd like to go to the ball with me." The grey eyed blonde rolled his eyes.
Harry stared. Draco had certainly grown much hotter now. With his pale, long blonde hair and those masculine shoulders and the eyes that you can drown in…
"Potter!"
"Yes! I mean yes Malfoy"
"Remember Potter, we're doing this because we have no choice."
"I remember ferret"
"Goodbye scarhead'
Harry lost his mind again. Was this worth it? After all the reporters would probably publish an article stating that Harry and Draco are in love the next day but who cares? Harry certainly did not. He always thought Draco would be hot underneath the covers. Sometimes he would even get lost swimming in those grey eyes.
It was final. He was going. He didn't care about others.
Suddenly he felt as though the Sunday would be more the perfect with the guy whose mother saved his life.
Once more the Scarhead god lost in thoughts of a certain ferret and in the long home office of the ferret, the ferret fell in love once again with the green eyes of a certain boy who lived.
