DISCLAIMER: I do not own Pokémon or any of its characters. I used art by Ken Sugimori to create the cover image.

Shedinja. A peculiar sight to see
A pokémon so simple, yet so eerie.
When Nincada evolves, it leaves in place
This odd, discarded carapace.

It remains inanimate, not even a flinch
Even in battle, or if it's in a pinch.
It breathes no air, uses no wings to fly,
Lives a lifestyle confounding to you and I.
Of signs of life, it's completely devoid
this strange, uncanny, ghostly void.

This shell seems to withstand most attacks
which often takes many a trainer aback.
It endures almost every hit
Should the move not be super-effective to it.

A human would be curious as to
what peering into the slit on its back will do
Doing such a thing would be a mistake.
Your spirit, your soul, Shedinja will take.

Shedinja. A peculiar sight to see
A pokémon so simple, yet so eerie.
An enigma concealing much mystery.
When Nincada evolves, it leaves in place
This odd, discarded carapace.

AUTHOR NOTE: MyNoseAgreesWithMe gave me the tip for the fourth verse. Thanks very much! :D
