A/N: A little character study on Neptune, based off my head-canon on her without Uranus present in the fic to balance her out. :D

Neptune

She is the deep oceans that hide their secrets far too well, under dark shrouded airs and still breaths that no human can ever hope to pass beyond. Because those things are things that humans need: light, and oxygen to breathe, so those secrets can be safe beyond those barriers that humans are incapable of breaking past.

She thinks, of all the elements, hers is one of the least human. Even Saturn is less: destruction is her call and yet every human has an atom's worth of destructive intent within them. If they had not, wars would not descend upon them and lay waste to once fertile lands. If they had not, the negative energies would not grow so potently in space, and would not be so hungrily attracted to them.

Pluto was loneliness and death, more of those things all humans felt but simply didn't want to admit. Uranus was the wind: those dreams they all dreamt, those higher heights they all aspired to reach. She, Neptune, was the deep dark ocean…and while every human also had secrets they didn't want to know, that part of the ocean was beyond them.

They turned away where they could still breathe. Or maybe she traps them down there instead, where there is no life nor light nor hope. Like those admirers that watch her from afar until she breaks their hearts. Those feelings she can never hope to return.

She looks beautiful, dignified…maybe even perfect. But inside, she represents the parts of their soul too deep for them to touch.
