Finally! Oh, I've been wanting to post something for Ballerina since the moment I walked out the cinema back in January. And I'm definitely not short on ideas either; I've got over a dozen fics in the works, one in particular… *squeals* Oh how I want to start posting that fic!
Ok Tangled, dial back the fangirl a bit. XD This is just a little something I wrote in my Creative Writing tutorial at uni. We were having a go at writing flashfiction, and the prompt she gave us just screamed 'Odette's accident' to me. I wasn't quite brave enough to read it out in class, but I'm more than happy to post it here. :) Enjoy!
Prompt: Write a 100-word piece starting with the sentence: "Something was about to happen."
Word Count: 98 words
.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.
The Dying Swan
Something was about to happen. She could feel it in the dark atmosphere that stretched over the vast array of faces that filled the theatre seats before her.
It should have been her cue – to stop and take in what was happening so close at hand but so far from mind – but lost was she to the music that filled her veins. The picture of elegance, the best of the best, the very queen of the swans. Every movement was fluid and precise. Strength masked in tender beauty. Graceful, passionate, perfect…
Only then did she smell the smoke.
.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.o.
Not bad for a first attempt, if I do say so myself, especially with a limit of only 100 words. (: As I said, this is just the first of many, many more Ballerina fics to come, most of them being for my new OTP. But since I could easily talk about Mérandette for another three paragraphs, I'll leave it here for now. If you liked it, please leave a comment and let me know. :)
