He wasn't very tall. No, not very tall at all. Taller than her, yes, but she smiled to herself and agreed. He wasn't very tall.
His hair was slick and his eyes were cold, haunted by ghosts of a past that never truly left him. She wondered how those eyes, even now, could seem so empty despite how full their lives were together. She reached out to touch him but her hand went right through him.
The pixels reconfigured once more, creating his likeness all over again.
His smile was sad, just as empty as his eyes.
"Sorry, Becca…this isn't real…"
Shaking her head, she reached out to touch his hand again, watching the pixels blur and then disappear altogether.
"No…you're right, it's not. But hey…at least once upon a time…it was."
