The night is starless and he is heartless.

Katsuki stares out at the night sky illuminated by city lights. People of all kinds decorate the streets - young and old, innocent and sinful. Not a single hero in sight. Mischief can be made. Blood can be spilled. Screams can be heard, the world can go straight to shit and it will all be his fault.

But he doesn't move. Perched upon a rooftop, Katsuki stays still because he is there, waiting patiently for him like the good little boy he has always been.

"What do you want, Deku?"

This time, he turns slightly, just to give the figure behind a small satisfaction of being visually acknowledged. He still looks the same: messy green hair and emerald eyes that are so damn easy to read. This time, he seems happy, satisfied, relived. It pisses Katsuki off because that happiness and satisfaction should be anger and disappointment. Fucking hell, Deku, hate him. Hate the villain.

"I came to visit you, Kacchan." His words are so soft and innocent and Deku-y and Katsuki wants to scream. Things shouldn't be like this and they both know it; but here they are, chatting like old friends. As if they have that right anymore.

"You're a fucking terrible hero, you know that?" It was a stupid question to ask because of course Deku knows that. Deku's a terrible hero and Katsuki's a terrible villain.

"I know." That mock apologetic smile fucks Katsuki up every single time.

"You could be apprehending the big bad villain right now."

"I know."

"But you aren't. You never fucking do, Deku."

"I know."

Somehow the distance between them shortens and Katsuki finds Deku standing over him. Katsuki thinks about jumping up and wrapping his fingers around that fucking nerd's neck. Smooth, creamy skin turns black and bright eyes go dull. One hero down, millions upon millions to go.

But he won't do that because, like Deku, he's a slave to the past.

So he doesn't protest when Deku leans down and wraps his arms around his shoulders. The embrace burns him and he sinfully relishes in the warmth. One of them should be dead right now. One of them should be gone right now. But they are both here, breathing and sinning and overall disturbing the natural world order.

Katsuki smiles when he thinks how easy it would be for Deku to end it.

He smiles even more when he thinks how Deku never will.
