Byakuya's Lost Love

Byakuya sat quietly on his big and empty bed. Sadness clouded his eyes as he picked up a picture of his deceased wife. Tears filled his eyes and threatened to roll down his face. It was the anniversary of her death. The day she left him forever; the day his world slowly came tumbling down. His memories of her came flooding back to him.

They were perfect for one another. No one was able to understand it, but whenever they were together, Byakuya was…happy. This was an emotion he rarely showed, unless he was with her. She would smile and he would smile back, it was like magic to the people that didn't understand it. When he was with her, he was not the cold person everyone else knew, but a kind, gentle person who loved his wife and she loved him in return. They had an unbreakable bond, or so they thought. When Byakuya found out that she was sick, he was devastated. He wanted to believe that she would get better, he really did, but his mind wouldn't allow him to fall into the bottomless pit of false hope. Each day she seemed to get worse. The doctor said that she would get better soon, but time passed slowly. To Byakuya, every minute, every hour, every day seemed to go on for what seemed like hours. A few weeks passed with no sign of her getting any better and Byakuya sadly came to the conclusion that she would not get any better. He stayed by her side at all times. He would try to comfort her, but they both knew that she wouldn't last much longer. One day he sat by her side eyes closed, trying to get some rest, when he felt her gently hold his hand in hers. He opened his eyes only to see her look worse than she did before. Her dull eyes looked into his.

"What is it?" he said quietly

"I'm so glad I was able to spend a part of my life with you Byakuya. It's been like a wonderful dream. You have been so kind to me lately. I wish that I could repay you for the love you have given to me the past few weeks."

"That's okay. You don't have to repay me. You shouldn't have to think about something like that at this time. You need to rest." Byakuya had to force a smile out. She smiled in return.

"Byakuya, I have a favor to ask of you"

"What is it?"

"I need you to find my little sister and adopt her into the Kuchiki Clan. Please allow her to call you 'brother'. I know that this is a lot to ask of you but please do this for me, Byakuya"

"I promise you, I will find her"

"Thank you, Byakuya."

He felt her grow weaker and weaker. He hated to see her like this, so weak, so fragile.

"I love you Byakuya," she said weakly trying to smile.

"I love you too, Hisana," he said as he tried to smile trying to hold back his tears. He soon felt her hand go limp.

"Goodbye … Hisana," He said as silent tears ran down his face.

As his memories began to fade, he sat on his bed alone, still looking at the picture of Hisana. Tears began to form in his eyes. He knew that these memories would never fade from his mind. He will always miss her but he will always remember the good memories that they shared together.

"I miss you so much, Hisana."

A single tear ran down his cheek and landed on the picture that he held.
