AN: A little conversation that I thought should have taken place somewhere in Breaking Dawn (or some variant of this).
Jacob P.O.V
"Can I talk to you Jacob?" Bella asked me. "Alone?"
"Um sure, Bells." I said, although I didn't really want to leave Nessie. However, Bella's expression was serious, so I went with her.
We walked through the woods, stopping in a nearby clearing. Bella turned and smiled up at me. I relaxed, thinking it couldn't be that bad if she was smiling.
"So what did you want to talk about, Bells?" I asked.
"Its about Nessie, Jake." she replied seriously.
I tensed. What was wrong with Nessie? She noticed my tension and hurried to reassure me.
"Nothing's wrong with her Jake," Bella said. "I want to talk about your imprinting, but I promise it's not a telling off." She grinned.
"Good. Edward's already gone off at me about a hundred times. For something I can't control, I might add." I replied, grinning back.
"Well, Jake," Bella paused.
"Just say it Bells! I won't get upset. Unless you're going to say I can't see Nessie." This thought filled me with horror.
"No, no Jake! Its not that," she assured me. "I can see how much you adore her, and I know she loves you too. Its just, how do I put this?" she hesitated.
"Come on Bells, you can talk to me." I said.
"Okay, it's just, don't take this the wrong way Jake, but Renesmee is not yours. I know you think of her as your Nessie, but she's not. She is mine and Edward's, first and foremost. You may have imprinted on her, but she is ours first, and yours second." Bella looked troubled. "Okay, Jake?" she asked.
I was shocked. I hadn't thought Bella was capable of this kind of speech, and the subject of the speech itself shocked me.
Bella looked near tears. Well, as near tears as she could get since she went all vampiric.
I hugged her. "It's all right Bells! I understand, she is your daughter after all. And I doubt she's my Nessie. I'm more hers!" I chuckled.
Bella laughed. "Alright Jake. And Edward says that Nessie does think of you as her Jacob, but you know what?"
I shook my head.
"I think of you as our Jacob. Mine and Nessie's."
I grabbed her in another hug. "And you know what Bells? You're right." I said.
"How?" she inquired.
"I am yours and Nessie's. You girls are two of the most important people in the world to me, along with my Dad and the pack. I still love you, just not the wrong way now."
"Aw Jake, I love you too!" Bella exclaimed. "You've always been a big part of my life, and you always will be."
"You're right again Bells. Now, should we go back to Nessie?"
"Okay. Race you there?" she challenged.
"Ready, set, GO!" I called, already phasing, ready to race my best friend in the world.
