Ok, I just watched the new episode. OMG! Kaldur just... he just... the mountain... argh! I can't even talk! It's just so...
Anyway, I had to write this. It's not much good, but whatever. It popped into my head and started dancing around.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own YJ. If I did, I wouldn't do this to the fans!
Tula.
It's not her, of course, just a giant holographic memorial of her. A memorial that, soon enough, won't be standing anymore. And he knows it's just a hologram, it's not real, but even the thought of that makes him want to break. It's been a year, maybe two, and it still hurts. But it's what made all of this possible.
He isn't sure if that helps or hurts.
He's standing under the shadow of her memorial, facing down his friends, who think he's the enemy. And maybe he is. He's not really sure who he is anymore. It's only inevitable, after all, that his acting will take a toll. These days, he's not quite sure when he's acting and when he's not. One thing he knows, there's no going back.
He wonders what she'd think, if she could see him now. They'd always been close, and she had always seen the good in him. But now? Now he's attacking his friends, been branded a traitor, and is plotting to blow up what had been his second home for years. She loved the mountain too. Some of her things are still here, and they will be destroyed with everything else. He wonders if she'd understand. He's doing this for the good of everyone, for her. Would she be proud for his sacrifice, or horrified at what he's become?
It doesn't really matter, of course. If she was here to tell him, there wouldn't be a reason why she would have to. But it matters to him, even if he can't let himself think like that anymore, can't show any weakness. Has to be ruthless.
He has to do what he has to, but he also has to do what he can to help Nightwing, which is why he shakes himself out of his thoughts and stops his allies- his enemies- from killing Conner, like they want says he needs him alive, which he does, but not for any reason that they can think of. Nightwing needs him.
Which is why, even as they take Impulse and Beetle and Beast Boy, he makes them leave Conner. He's lying, there's an infinite amount of experiments that can be done on him, but he needs to be free for their plan to work.
And when he blows up the mountain, his home, he hopes that they get out in time. And he breaks a little bit more, because he's lost the last of what he had of Tula. He'll never be let back into Atlantis, so really, all he had of her was there. The memorial, her possessions, her hero things.
And now it's gone.
It's short, and not very good, but whatever. It was an evil plot bunny I had to get rid of.
