A drabble for the jackoneill100 challenge: Dagger

Disclaimer: Dont own.

Dedicated to Kiri, my love, and to my dearest Fyre, who faded from this world a few days ago. May the shadows give her wings.

-----------------------------------------------

The world was silver behind tear-blurred eyes, glowing, shining, shimmering silver that put the moon to shame.

The air whistled past unhearing ears, quiet darkness that was a roar, a shriek, in itself.

And he could see the red, the crimson, the dark, dark, scarlet pool from which life itself was born.

And he could feel the heat of a blood-red sun under his hands, eternal life flowing, and the sun was both warming his hands, and just like the sea that rolls forever: never stopping.

And a splash of rain that wasn't rain fell upon the golden-red stream, and it was swallowed, a pebble amidst the swells.

And as Dawn took her fair throne, a dagger was uncovered off to the side; gold infused on silver, storm-wide terror, shadows shifting aside.

And the eyes that were once dyed like the sea, water all year flowing, a spraying geyser that held so much love, so much pride, so much spirit, turned a dusky water shade, windy peaks of faraway lands, veiled in a cloud, faded in blue air.

And a haunting song arose above the trees.

And a hand, soft as mist, covered his cheek, as Jack's bold-hearted lover met the Sovereign of Death, with the surging phantoms, within the cold home of the Dead.

And upon that lost field, where the greatest had gone down fighting, a lover's life was lost, and his partner's was left meaningless.
