A/N: A random and short drabble about the couple that I like. My first time writing a Bleach fanfic. Reviews are great. Thanx for reading and reviewing.

He sighed and stared at the barren landscape before him. The scenery in front of his eyes reminded him of their first meeting. It was not snowing, the last leaves on the trees had yet to fall on the ground and the gentle autumn breeze was cooling. She was laying facedown on the ground, half-dead from the hunger pangs. It was unusual for souls living outside the Seireitei to feel hungry but unlike the other souls; she was special, just like him. He helped her to recover, told her about her being special and they became best friends ever since. It had been many years since that incident and they were all grown-up now, each with their own responsibilities and lives.

She stirred in her sleep but did not wake up. The fire in the fireplace was the only source of warmth and light in this old shack. He stared at her angelic face illuminated by the fire and felt a pang of regret. This might be their last time together and he was sad they had to say goodbye to each other this way. If he could, he would like to protect her longer, keeping her safe from harm's way but it seemed that he was destined for greater things. He recalled the conversation he had with the others earlier. Everything is ready and is in place, just waiting for the right time to start the wheel in motion.

A sudden gust of the chilly wind blew into the shack, causing the fire in the fireplace to flicker. Shadows formed on the wall moved, as if they were alive. With his white bangs of hair concealing his eyes, it was hard to read his emotions. He stood up, walked towards the fireplace and made sure that there was enough firewood to keep the flame alive for a few more hours. She continued to sleep, clueless on what was happening.

Picking up his captain's coat on the floor, he wore it over his shinigami uniform and made sure that his wakizashi was in its original position. Bending down, he kissed her gently on the cheek. It was his farewell kiss as he walked out of the door. He didn't even turn around to look back as the first few drops of snow began to fall. More snow fell after that and by the time she woke up, he was long gone.

She continued to stare at the snow-covered path leading towards the shack, hoping that he will return but he never did. No matter how long she waited, he will never come back again. The snow continued to fall, turning the area surrounding the shack pristine white. Temperatures began to fall as daylight gave way to night.

It was useless for her to wait any longer and thus, she left the place with a heavy heart. Thousands of questions ran through her mind but only one echoed louder than the rest, "Where are you going, Gin?" The cold wind swept across the landscape, caressing her cheeks and a voice in the wind answered her question, "Farewell Rangiku." Tears began to fall down her cheeks as she headed back to her residence in the Seireitei.
