Love is a Sweet Thing

Miss Parker placed the picture frame on the top of the gravestone. Tommy's grave. Two years. Tommy had been dead for two years but it felt more like forever. She missed him so much.

He was the first man she had ever had a real relationship. The only man she had ever truly loved to the point of commitment. Real commitment. It was her first relationship that was not there just for the great sex.

She sighed and kissed her fingers and placed them on the grave. Her phone rang. She flipped it open, "Jarod."

"You know with such instincts you might just catch me yet."

"Jarod today is not a good day."

"I haven't forgotten what today is Miss Parker."

"Oh that's right." She said sarcastically, "You and Tommy were great friends."

Jarod sighed, "I didn't call to terrorize you. Not this time."

"And what do you want this time, Jarod?"

"To offer my condolences."

"Your what?"

"Just look under the tree."

Parker turned and looked under the tree behind her. Same tree where he had left his last gift for her. She walked over and unwrapped the huge package and gasped, "Jarod… Its beautiful." Inside the large package was a picture, a painting, of her and Thomas. On the swing. Their swing. "How did you know? Did Tommy tell you?"

"Actually I told Tommy about the spot. He sent me a picture."

"Jarod why did you give this to me?"

"Love is a sweet thing Miss Parker. Don't lose it. Ever." And the dial tone rang her ear.

Parker clicked her phone shut and went to kneel down in front of Tommy's grave. "Love is a sweet thing." She murmured, "And I'll never lose sight of that." She ran her fingers over Tommy's name, "Never."
