Anything but Romantic
by: Higasa
Sawada Shin was anything but nervous. Lately, however, whenever he was around Yankumi he became nervous. His hands fidgeted, he became annoyed when she rambled on about this cute teacher that appeared at the school she was teaching, and nervous because he didn't know how he could get her to see that he was more than just her former student.
"I can't believe it," Yankumi moaned for the umpteenth time that night. "This is like the 5th time I've been dumped!"
Shin raised an eyebrow at her. "Firstly you've never been dumped - "
"Shut - hic! - up - hic! - Sawada," she swatted his arm. His eyebrows arched even more if it was possible. Drunk Yankumi was amusing and cute. He wouldn't admit this out loud of course because it wasn't his style to do so.
"It's called rejection, Yankumi," he said slowly. "There's a difference."
"Being dumped, Sawada, is the same thing!" she said. "Now, shut up and go away. Just leave me alone to cry."
Shin hesitated slightly. He didn't want to leave her in a bar full of drunken men. Sure, she could handle herself with her strength but he didn't know if she could handle them when she was in a drunken state. And in her red halter top instead of her usual jersey made men stare at her even more. She had called him early that evening and he had come practically flying to her side in a record of time. He glared at every men that dared even to cast a glance in her direction. Although he didn't mean to be, Shin was protective of her.
"I'm not going to leave you alone," he said. "You're drunk and - "
She shook her head, "No, I'm not. If I was would I be doing this?" She takes his face and cups his chin before swooping down, placing her mouth on his.
Shin's eyes widen. What the hell? Yankumi was kissing him? Did she really know what she was doing? He knew that this was bad, really bad! Especially if he liked it and could taste a bitter flavor in her mouth that also seem to make him intoxicated as well. He wondered briefly for a moment if one could get drunk on a kiss before threaded his fingers in her head to pull her closer. He could hear wolf whistles throughout the room, but he tuned them out. In the morning, all would probably be forgotten when Yankumi was too hungover over her headache. Although if she ever find out about her drunken kiss, she would probably clobber him to the ground. He had to break away, a regret that he would deal with later.
"Hehe," she said, with the goofiest grin on her face that he had ever seen when she pulled away. "I love you Shin." She nuzzled the side of his throat still hiccuping.
Shin stiffened. She had never called him by his first name. It was always by last name, as if to keep a distance between themselves. She was his teacher and he was her student (or former). "Yankumi, hey, you're drunk. Definitely drunk."
Because when she's drunk she wouldn't be kissing him and in public too. Oh and most definitely wouldn't say the three little words he's been dying to tell her.
"Not drunk," she growled, poking him on the cheek. "Have you gotten skinnier, Sawada?"
He grasped her hands, "I'm taking you home, Yankumi." he said shortly. He didn't know why he was annoyed. He had wanted his first kiss to be romantic. Like by candle lights or underneath stars. But being romantic was overrated and he wasn't the most romantic type of guy.
"Okay," she nods still with that stupid silly smile.
Shin sighed and led the way out of the bar into the cold winter night. He was definitely wasn't going to kiss and tell in the morning.
