Second Year Marauders -
By JediSolo
Sequel to "The First Year Marauders." For the 21 reviews I got (wrote on 27/2/04)…I couldn't say "No" to a sequel to any of them! This story will include Animagi transformations…Marauders Map and Hogsmead.
(Hogsmead will be explained…I can't do every1 I am NOT that good at writing so I am going to rush things up a bit e.g. Quidditch and Hogsmead this year not next year) It will tell you how Lupin became a werewolf in the first place and about his terrifying nightmares. Sirius and Lupin friendship develops to best friends. How James becomes Griffindor Seeker and how Lily Evans comes to hate him even more.
(PS…No Dark Lord yet-Voldermort doesn't fit in! Only in Year5/ 6/7! I have my reasons…)
Disclaimers - All of the HP world and characters bar a few…belongs to JK, only the idea of the story and plot is officially mine.
Chapter 1 - Full Moons
12-year-old Sirius Black couldn't sleep as he stared up at his bedroom ceiling. He hadn't been able to get any shut-eye for weeks now, ever since he'd left Hogwarts school; it wasn't the beats that he got from his dad for getting into Griffindor not Slytherin. On the other hand, it wasn't even about becoming friends with a half-breed and a Potter, since he hadn't told him about his friends anyway.
It was because tonight was a full moon, tonight was one of those nights he would never get comfortable sleep again, because one of his best friends was going through a torture he could not escape many, many miles away.
It wasn't that far…
the 12 year old thought sadly, He lived in London, and his friend Remus Joseph Lupin also known by his father and friends as "Moony", lived in Langley in Berkshire just an hours drive in a muggle vehicle. However, he was no muggle, he was a wizard, underaged or not. His mother had made him grow his hair out this holiday so that he could hide the scars on his cold neck, but apart from that not much about him had changed. His blue eyes were as striking as ever and in the months he'd wished for two small hopes, that the holidays end soon and that his friends were ok and well.
Sirius got of bed and looked out the window of his bedroom--the smallest bedroom in the large house of 12 Grimmauld place and looked out at the stars.
He gripped his hand in a tight fist and then knew his mind was made up, he was leaving and running away tonight. To Moony's he decided. Though the place was small I am sure that they wouldn't mind. James was up in Scotland, Moony on the other hand like he had thought have earlier was in Berkshire, and he was sure that a unique yellow gypsy wagon wouldn't be too hard to find.
Then again, maybe he should stay, after all, his dad had said if he behaved for the rest of the holidays then he would sign his form to Hogsmead, which for the first time had let Second years attend. However, Sirius could forge it well enough anyway and he knew his dad to well…he wouldn't sign a form for Sirius unless it was signing his son's life away.
That idea decided it. He grabbed his satchel and his things, including his birthday present, it had been small, from his grandfather who died barely days ago of old age, but it was still the best present he'd ever got from anyone in his family. It was three mirrors, one for himself, one for Lupin and one for James. If he'd got four Petigrew would have one too. Then they'd have to speak through the mirror either of their names and then they could speak to each other.
"Perfect for detentions…"
he had thought at his first glance. Then all his schoolbooks were flung into a bag, along with clothes, and then he did what he thought would be unthinkable, He creaked along the hallway, into his parent's bedroom and took the key to their vault in Gringotts.
He slipped it in his robe, then he took his dad's broom, the Nimbus, a new broom, not yet in stores. He went outside and under cover of heavy rain flew away from his house.
"Moony here I come…"
he thought, as he spared through the air away from 12 Grimmauld Place until it was the shape of a speck of dust in the sky.***
Joseph Lupin sat up in bed to hear loud howling, he sighed, realizing like every month, on the full moon that that howl was just his son, screaming inside to be let out of a wolfs skin.
He heard the painful howls and couldn't get back to sleep. Since he was Remus's only family he had it was had for him, he didn't get much money for own the shop infront of their gypsy caravan, it was quite desolate in these parts and Joseph knew that it would be safe for his son to be let out here.
The night of the full moon was when his son was locked in one of the rooms in the shop, but the sounds were louder than Joseph had suspected. Sometimes in the mornings Joseph would find his son he liked to call "Moony" sleeping peacefully and wouldn't be able to picture him a werewolf no matter what he did.
He looked at his watch, It was eight in the morning, The moon was covering away in the hidings of the clouds, and about now Remus would become himself again.
Joseph got out of the bunk bed he and his son shared, used his second hand wand to light the cooker and get beans on toast ready, make his and his sons bed, and then walked out of the door to help his son out of the "hell hole."

Remus opened his eyes, he was in naught by his old torn jeans and he noticed the blood on his arms which were very painful to touch, he'd done it again…when he became a werewolf he'd bitten himself to taste his blood.
He howled in pain and leant against the wall, which was smothered in the scarlet liquid and sighed.
Over the last two weeks Lupin had changed a lot, his hair was rapidly becoming grey thanks to being a werewolf and because he was put under a lot of stress of Homework. Also he wasn't so small anymore, he'd had a quick growth spurt but apart from the outside features, Lupin's personality hadn't changed much, though his voice wasn't so squeaky anymore, but his smile, his laugh his nature hadn't changed a bit. When Lupin heard a voice from outside the door.
"You Ok Moony…" it said and young Remus had a hint of a smile on his young face as the voices owner opened the door a crack. "Yeah dad…gifts over…" he muttered and then the stranger walked in. Their face was white as a blank sheet.
"Remus! My god!" he said shocked and Joseph Lupin got down on his knees next to his son and used his own shirt to cover Remus's arms.
"Sorry Dad…" said Remus sadly. Joseph looked up at him and smiled briefly.
"It's not your fault…!" he said and ruffled the boys almost silvery grey hair with strands of brown highlighted only by the crack of sunlight from the window, "You couldn't control yourself," he said sadly. "I'm making beans on toast…" he said, and then noticed his son struggling to stand. "Want some help…"
Moony nodded and his dad helped him to his feet and put his hand on his son's shoulder. It seemed to melt on Remus's arm like butter in the sun, to him one of the best sensations in the world. Joseph noticed the smile and smiled himself. "Come on Mr Moony. I'll get you some clean clothes…."

The Lupin's would have originally sat outside to eat if it was anywhere near warm enough, but the heavy rain was still pounding, and it was still cold. They were enjoying their small meal when suddenly Remus saw something block the peeking sun outside. It was in a shape of a figure, not a bird or a muggle plane, but something different.
"Someones outside…" said the younger Lupin confused. He got up from his seat and opened the door; Joseph went to stop him, when both saw a terrible sight.
"Sirius!" cried out Remus, he broke into a run and saw the taller figure of Sirius who hadn't seen in many weeks, a broken broomstick beneath his body, the rain pounded on him and Sirius looked like death warmed up.
"Moony…" said Sirius happily, "Boy am I glad to see you…" he said, their was pain in his voice and Lupin was just too shocked to see him the way he was at that moment. Both shocked Lupins lifted Sirius Black into their wagon with the bag he'd brang behind him and shut the door behind them.

Sirius had broken his wrist and had been flying for what Remus could make out was atleast two hours because of the weather. He was as battered as you like and was sneezing like hell. Remus was mad at him, but Moony's father on the other hand had never seen this kind of thing, that a friend from school come to his son's house by broom all the way from London, and honestly didn't know what to do or even say. So went into the shop so that to let them sort it out on their own.
"You are INSANE!" said the silver haired boy. He had a face of anger, a look of despair. "You could of got hurt Sirius…you could have died!" he said sadly.
"I didn't Moony I have survived to dare another day and besides, you don't know what it's like living with my family…I couldn't cope anymore…I needed out!"
"But why here?" said Lupin. "I told you that this place was too small for two people let alone three and that we would meet up at James's in the summer…"
"I gave him a ring on his fellytone--"
"Telephone--"
"Right, and said that we couldn't come because his brother got a promotion in his line of work and they are on holiday…he was quite unhappy. He wanted us to go too…but we couldn't," said Sirius sadly. "Besides. It's fine here, Cosy…" he said looking around the small wagon. "I don't see what's wrong with it at all!"
"It matters what my dad says--and well--it's just…" said Lupin and didn't complete his sentence.
Sirius noticed how quite he went. "Just what--"
"Full moon, if you stay for the rest of the hols…I have to go through Full Moon with you here like what happened at Hogwarts--but here it's much worse" he said and shuddered.
"Moony," said Sirius sadly, "I am your friend…I didn't tell anyone else what you were at school, I didn't tell my parents…the only person we told was Peter," said Sirius. "We signed a pact remember, I will help you through D Day ok?"
Moony nodded sheepishly and for once the two friends shared an understanding, at school it was always Sirius and James two best friends and little Lupin in the background, but it was different now. Lupin was Sirius's best friend, and so was James. Sirius Black was the luckiest boy in the world in his mind at that moment because Sirius didn't just have one best friend. He had two!
"I'll ask my dad if we have any room." Lupin said and Sirius grinned as he watched his new best friend walk out of the door.
