It's been 2 months…
The blonde boy drapes the blanket across his body, and lays his hands to his sides. His eyes feature out his window; catching a frame of fireflies, lighting the night, dancing beneath the moonlight. His eyes fall and track to the left side of the bed, and sees a struggling brunette.
"Eren, what's the matter?"
"Armin," the brunette responds, rolling over. His eyes scanning each individual stone of the ceiling.
"Tell me about the ocean."
Armin's lips rejoice into a smile, and his eyes scroll the horizon of the brunette's sharp face. The moonlight beaming through the window makes his eyes more crisp. Eren has trouble sleeping, and every night he ask Armin to describe the beach.
"Well," The blonde whispered fluently.
"The ocean is said to cover our sight, miles-on-end. It drapes the earth, forever and ever. Water tasting like salt, seasoning the wind. The water clashes against nearby stones, and waves gathering up, soaring down, crashing against itself, and then rolling onto the sand."
"The sand…" Eren muttered.
"Yes, the sand." Armin continues.
"A runway of sand borders the ocean, and sometimes the ocean crosses over those boundaries, and makes the sand really wet, sort of like mud! But the majority of the sand is soft, and tickles your feet. It fills in the spaces between your toes, and sucks in the bottom of your foot. It's so light, that the wind can sometimes pick it up."
"The wind…" Eren whispered.
"Ah, the wind." The blonde sighed.
"The wind makes it's entryway between each strand of your hair with each gust. The mist from the ocean is what seasons the wind, making it salty. You can even taste it! The wind is what pushes the ocean, they say."
The brunette shuffles his feet around in enjoyment. His eye lids become heavy with each blink.
"Armin,"
"Please, see the ocean with me." The brunette requested.
"I will." The blonde answered.
"No! Promise me!"
A flinch came to response of the sudden sternness from the brunette. A tear strolled down the blonde's thin, soft cheek, and a inhale of suddenness came to him. Reality has settled in.
"I…promise Eren. I promise to visit the ocean. I promise to see it: draping my sight, miles-on-end. To hear it: clashing against stone. I promise to take off my shoes, my socks, to feel the golden sheets of sand beneath my feet. I promise to scrunch up my toes, as the sand fills in the gaps between them. I promise,"
The blonde obstructed himself with swallow of sorrow.
"To feel the wind's gust, pushing against my hair, as it makes its entryway through each strand. To taste the salt, as I take it all in with each deep breath. I promise to see the ocean,"
"With you."
Armin blinked and tears began streaming down his face. His breath became hollow and his eyes catch the fireflies, still dancing beneath the moonlight. The bedroom barrens, as Armin wipes his sorrow with each damp wrist. His eye lids became more heavy, and so, he lays his head to rest. The left side of the bed remains empty like it always has, as darkness envelopes the blonde boy's sight, before he wakes up the next morning
Alone.
It's been 2 months
Explanation: Eren passed away 2 months ago. Armin relives the memories they shared, each night, causing Eren to "Come back to life" and to "lay" with Armin. Eren symbolizes Armin's sorrow, and to get past this sorrow and fall asleep, Armin shares stories about the beach (The place he promised to see with Eren), each night. Armin has been having trouble falling asleep for the past 2 months because he doesn't have his love's arms around him anymore.
Like my last Eremin fic, this one is short. But from reviews, I understand that it's important to show the connection between the two characters. I hope I accomplished that again with this fic, as you guys enjoy reading it!
Thank you.
