A/N: Heh, this has been on my brain ever since I read that novel snippet or whatever it was that had Jack telling Elizabeth that every lord needed a lady. I just took forever to sit down and write this out. Heh, silly me!
Lords and Ladies, Kings and Queens
As she stepped close to him and they embraced in a hug, he bent dangerously close to her ear. And ever so quietly, for her ears alone, he whispered, "If ever you want to come back, love, just you remember that every lord needs a lady."
He didn't expect her to acknowledge if she heard him or not, and she didn't. She simply stepped back with a smile, and disembarked.

Over a week later, he was trying futilely to catch a nap below deck on the Pearl when he became award of the scurrying of feet above. He tried to ignore the sounds of the crew on deck, but soon found that he couldn't.
Angrily, he marched up the steps, wondering what had everyone scurrying about so. He came on deck to see that another ship was pulled alongside the Pearl and that crews on both ships were dropping anchors to keep them side-by-side.
He frowned.
"Captain Sparrow!" a familiar voice called.
Squinting against the sun, Jack turned his gaze to the upper deck of the other ship, where his eyes found Captain Teague. Smiling faintly at his father, Jack called back across the space to him.
"What's your business in these waters?" he asked.
Teague shrugged in way of response, and slowly stepped to one side to reveal another familiar face.
Jack felt a smile stretch across his face and he walked across the deck to the rail closest to the other ship.
"Hello, Jack," Elizabeth said, returning the smile.
"Well, hello yourself, Captain Swann," he responded. He looked her over from head to toe, noting that she was once again fully dressed like a Shanghai pirate. "So, what's your business here, Captain?"
Her smile curved more towards a smirk. "I've come to take a little riff-raff off of Captain Barbossa's hands," she said. "Seems he has some dead weight that he wants to pass on to me." She looked over Jack's head, and he too turned to look at Barbossa, who was also smirking.
"That so?" Jack asked.
"Aye, it is," Barbossa confirmed. "Now get on over there before I have to throw ye myself, Jack."
Jack tossed him a mock-salute. "With pleasure, Cap'n." After backing up and getting a running start, he leapt onto the Pearl's railing and grabbed a hold of a dangling rope. Using it, he swung across the empty space between the two ships and landed on the other's deck with a flourish.
Elizabeth came down the steps from the upper deck to meet him, clapping slowly. "Bravo, Captain Sparrow," she said.
He grinned, but it slowly faded to a small smile as she came to a stop in front of him. "Every lord needs a lady?" he asked.
Her fiery eyes narrowed fractionally. "No, actually," she said. "I'll not play a perfect lady to any lord anymore." A smirk tugged at the edges of her lips. "However, every king—pirate or not—needs a queen at their side."
Jack grinned. "Well, now…" He paused and blinked for a moment as he realized what she had said. "Oh, no, love. I don't think so…"
