Clouds of the Autumn Sky

Don't you think it's a little peculiar on how everything mixed into today?

The day when I first met you, the day when I swore to destroy you, would be the day that I promised to myself that I'd protect you.

Do you still remember that time where we snuck out of the Sohma house to play in the park? It was the first time I saw you smile and laugh in a carelessly way. I held your hand as we walked through the orange sea of leaves and watched them grow into little waves as we kicked them off our feet.

I'm finding my way back to sanity again,
Though I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there.
I take a breath and hold on tight,
Spin around one more time,
And, gracefully fall back to the arms of grace.

We sat on that newly-painted green bench in front of the riverbank and searched for interesting figures that the clouds made. I still remember what you said about one cloud that passed by.

"Look, Haru. Those clouds look so sad," you said. It surprised me somehow but, still, I kept silent. "Do you know why they're sad?" I nodded in disbelief.

I'm looking past the shadows in my mind into the truth,
And, I'm trying to identify the voices in my head.
God wish won't you,
Let me feel one more time what if feels like to feel,
And break these calluses off me one more time.

In return, you just smiled and stared at the sky. "They look like us, don't you think?"

With that, you confused me with something surreal and abstract and, possibly, that was something even I can't or, maybe, wouldn't be able to understand. Even if we are almost alike, there will always be something that I'll never reach. I've always knew that, in your heart, you will always keep that secret of yours and I will never have the chance to know it.

Oh, I don't want a thing from you.
Bet you're tired of me waiting for,
The scraps to fall off of your table to the ground.

'Cause I just wanna be here now.

"Yuki…"

"Hmm..?"

"Will you be here…?" Even if I do know there will come at time where we'll have to say goodbye.

You looked at your feet and kicked them gently off the ground. "That's a promise."

'Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying,
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight,
That's alright, alright with me.
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door,
And listen to you breathing,
Its where I wanna be.

As I stare at that same bench from years back, I can still see those smiling faces, walking hand-in-hand, under those sad clouds with that unforgettable promise.

A/N[Wow, I finally got the hang of the bar thingy. ('w';) Anyhow, the song is Breathing by Lifehouse. A pretty fluffy YukiHaru fic dedicated to my Sempai [even if I'm not really for Furuba at the moment. I do hope you enjoyed this little piece of mine. Of course, reviews are much obliged. :)
