He was getting married today. The one and only man she had ever loved, would ever love. He was getting married and worst of all he was not marrying her. She sat on the hard cold wood floor of her living room holding the glossy white invitation in her hand. She would not be going to this wedding. She had sent back the response saying she would but in her heart she always knew she wouldn't be able to attend.

It had all happened so fast. They couldn't show their relationship in public so they had a wild and wicked affair for over two years. He had to keep up appearances and date, she had even helped him get ready for his first one. He said it was nothing, just to show people that he was still single.

She had been sitting on the floor for hours already and just couldn't make herself move. It hurt so much just to think let alone make her body respond to her minds commands.

So she sat and waited, waited for the man she wanted more than anything in the world come to her.

Then came the proposal. He had told her he needed to settle down and asked her to marry him. She thought about it long and hard but she couldn't leave her family forever and this is what marriage to him would cost her. She asked him for time.

The last time she had seen him he had kissed her and thanked her for teaching him how to love. Her mind raced over the thought. She taught him to love and he had used it to fall in love with someone else. How had it happened, why didn't he want her anymore. She had done nothing but love him. She could feel the screams building up inside her again and the tears again start falling from her eyes.

He had told her he couldn't wait anymore that he had to have an answer. She still couldn't give him one, she asked for more time. Three months later he was engaged to someone else.

One hour until the wedding, one hour for him to change his mind and be with her. She waited alone, her whole life wrapped around this one day. She never knew anything could hurt this much.

After the announcement she saw him at a friends wedding. They looked at each other for a long time and they dance once last time together. He whispered he loved her and she asked him to come back to her.

Fifteen minutes left. She begged out loud for him to come to her. Through her sobs she offered everything she had for his return. Bargaining with invisible forces to what she would give up just to have him.

She hated his girlfriend, she didn't even know her and talked to her a total of two times. Her name alone could cause her stomach to lurch and her hands to shake. She had never hated someone so much in her life.

Time was up the ceremony would have started five minutes ago. He still didn't come and she knew it was really over. He had not chosen her and she truly felt more alone than she ever had before in her life.

How could she explain this to the world, that she was broken. No one would understand they didn't know about their relationship. She had no reason to mourn his loss, was he truly ever hers. How do you go on breathing when your heart is gone.

One hour passed the ceremony found her now laying on her back on the same cold floor. Looking at the dull white ceiling trying not to think anymore, trying not to live anymore. It was to hard, to soon, to try to move on. Her heart hurt so much. Where was she to go from here?

She unfolded the invitation and read it for the hundredth time today. Her red and swollen eyes scanning the same line over and over again.
