"I think maybe, I've got things to figure out."
Ever since he decided to come around again, life has been different, better. Or, maybe that's what she wanted to believe, needed to believe. It started with a fast, yet oddly compassionate apology, consisting of more," It was stupid of me" and "Please Addison, forgive me," than she could count. Begging to the point of graveling, and before she knew it, she was in his arms, and he was promising that this time around things would be different.
No less then four months later, she found herself back were she had been almost twelve years ago, only this time with Mark instead of Derek. And now walking up to Savvy making no effort to hide the diamond engagement ring that now resided on her left ring finger, she hugged the blonde woman, whom she hadn't seen in almost 6 months.
"Oh my god, Addi…look at you, you're pregnant." Savvy said as she hugged her best friend. "I can't believe you didn't tell me, especially since you look like you could deliver any day now." "How far along are you?" she asked still shocked. "Thirty-seven weeks. I didn't tell you, because the...She, the baby isn't Derek's" Addison said on the verge of tears. "Oh, Addi…" Addison interrupted. "It's Marks. And we had a rocky start, but I think I love him, and we are going to try and make this work. He asked me to marry him." She flashed her ring. "Addison, that's great. I am happy for you." Savvy smiled. "And did you say She?" the blonde asked, "Yes! It's a girl. I'm going to have a daughter Savv." "That's great sweetie, and I can't wait to meet her. She is going to be beautiful."
Once the two of you have finished your lunch, and done all the "catching up" that is humanly possible for your allotted one hour lunch break, you hug, and then you are both gone your separate ways. As you make the short walk back to the hospital, you know Mark will not be pleased to hear that you had not taken a cab, but you couldn't pass up the nice breeze that paled in comparison to a stuffy cab. You think about the last year of your life, and how you ended up were you are at. How you had been in a lonely marriage with Derek, which had ultimately lead to him finding you in the throws with Mark. Two months later, you were pregnant, and Derek was gone.
You hadn't told Mark about the pregnancy right away, because you still had to soak all of it up yourself. But the second you let it out, you regretted it, Mark ran.
You had just come to terms with being a single mother, and having to raise your child alone, when he came back one night, with flowers and a hell of an apology. And now here you were almost ten months later, almost ready to deliver your baby, and engagement ring on your finger.
It was almost to much, and you had to stop to catch your breathe. You hadn't realized that you had been crying, and you didn't know why. But then again, you did. This was a lot for one person to handle, you knew that in the end you could be strong enough; you had to be, you were going to be a mother. You just hoped that you wouldn't get hurt again, in the mist of everything.
