A/N: I started out trying to write something about friends for lawandorder100 on LiveJournal, but alas, no inspiration came. Then at like 1AM, when I was attempting to sleep and somehow thought of puzzles, this popped into my head and I just jotted it down in the dark. ;) It doesn't necessarily work with the challenge anymore, but oh well. It's CI fic and I'm happy. :)

He liked puzzles. She figured that one out very early on in their partnership. He always looked at things with the intent to solve them. It only made sense then that he himself was quite a puzzle, complex and difficult to understand.
And while she readily admitted to liking puzzles, she had never been too obsessed with figuring out every single one that came her way. Some things, some complicated puzzles, were merely meant to be taken at face value, and never really solved or understood in depth.
Bobby Goren was one such puzzle, and she was content with that.

He had always loved puzzles, ever since he was a child. Figuring them out had always thrilled him in a way that nothing else ever could.
To him, most people were puzzles. But most of those puzzles were rather easy to figure out.
But he'd known her, worked at her side as her partner, for six (seven?) long years, and she still found ways to outsmart and befuddle him. Every single time he thought he had her figured out, something new came along.
But he was resolved that someday, he would completely figure out the puzzle of Alex Eames. Someday, somehow.
