Lots of thanks to my beta reader Witch isit for all the help!

Hex couldn't stop thinking about his adventure in Monte Carlo with Ace. He wondered if the Doctor would ever put him in charge of things. Not with Ace around, he supposed. The truth was, Ace was a real leader and Hex was a follower. Hex wasn't really complaining, though. He didn't mind following Ace around. Besides, put her in charge and things got done,. Put him in charge and he worried about making mistakes. Being a leader wasn't good for his nerves. On the other hand, Ace was so confident and certain, sometimes Hex wondered if she even had nerves.

But Ace wasn't always right. She'd said Hex had been hiding under the bed, and he hadn't been. Well, he kind of hadn't been. He was just being careful and staying out of trouble was the way he liked to look at things. If he stepped into a dark corner to keep out of sight, Ace wouldn't have laughed. The bed was a better hiding place then a corner so Hex thought it was a smarter place to conceal himself.

Ace could get annoying when she was bossy. Maybe she was right most of the time but she still was annoying. Watch out if you said that out loud! She had a temper. No one could ever say she wasn't smart, though. Ace was dead clever and she was brave on top of it. Hex didn't know if he ever would have the courage to say it again but he thought she looked right nice in a dress too.
