The Rise of a New Captain

Jadeyn's First Love

When Lieutenant Jadeyn Ichihara glanced at Toshiro Hitsugaya for the first time, she knew it was love at first sight. And after that first glance, Jadeyn had made it her life's work to make him her soul mate.

At first, Captain Kyla thought it harmless when Jadeyn began plastering his name all over the little notebooks she always carried. But then Kyla became concerned when her friend began to hang drawings of him in her bedroom. After two days of seeing nothing other than Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya X Lieutenant Jadeyn Ichihara, Kyla decided to confront her friend about her obsession.

"So jade, what's with the new drawings I saw you hanging on the wall in y our bedroom?" Kyla asked over a cup of tea in the squad 13 barracks. Jadeyn looked up from her notebook and set her pen down on the table.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said taking a sip of her tea. Kyla set her cup down and reached across the table for her friend's hand.

"I've seen the way you act about this guy sweetheart. You hang pictures of him in your bedroom and plaster his name all over your notebooks." Jade looked at the cover of her latest notebook. 'Jadeyn X Toshiro' was scrawled across the cover several hundred times in her neat hand writing.

"I suppose you're right Kyla. But what can I do? Toshiro already has a crush and that's on Momo. There is no way I can compete with a girl who already has his attention," Jadeyn said.

"Then that makes our job so much easier Jade," Kyla replied with a smile. "All we have to do is put you in something so breath taking; Toshiro will have no choice but to notice you."

"And where do you suppose we could find something like that?" Jadeyn questioned. "All the clothing stores are closed today."

"But not in the world of the living they're not," Kyla said excitedly. "We should hurry up and get going Jade."

Jadeyn nodded and got up from the table to pack her backpack. She was just strapping her Zanpakto to her back when Kyla appeared in the door way dressed in her captain robe.

Jadeyn quickly adjusted her lieutenant's badge and the two friends left the barracks. "Are you sure we have permission to go to Karakura town, Captain?" Jadeyn asked. When Kyla was wearing her captain's robe, Jadeyn knew not to call her by her first name.

"Of course we do," Kyla said, walking up to the portal that would carry them safely to the world of the living. When the doors opened and Kyla and Jade were safely on the other side of the portal, the doors began to close.
