Her hands moved over her stomach softly, her hair up in a bun and her nails short. Her fingers; pale and long circled across the small bump developing. This was theirs.. Something they had in common other than charm.
Effie wondered over to the front room of her and Caesar's Capital house. It was a hard choice for him to agree to, since he seemed something was there for him in the other side of town. But since they got married that last year, a lot of things had changed. The Games had ended.. Katniss and Peeta had a proper wedding by now, and peace had came over Panem.
Effie combed her fingers through her hair one more time, nervous. She was talking to the press tonight.. and they'd notice the bump. They'd know Caesar and herself, the secret lovers were having a baby. Even if the games were over, Effie trusted nobody. It was hard for her, to even trust her own people as she once did. Once they came in and swormed into her house, she had been having nightmares for months, weeks, days. Countless hours of tossing and turning, waking Caesar up, and not to mention almost always falling asleep as morning sickness came over her small frame to awake her.
Pulling on her favorite pink dress, she sat on her bed and looking in the mirror. She poked her stomach softly and sighed. The last time she was pregnant, they were all still alive. Haymitch, the victor from District 12. And Orabelle and… her mind couldn't come to think of his name. It was only not that long ago; 2 years ago; that they had been together and torn apart. Sighing, she stood up and waddled out into the kitchen as an avox poured a glass of lemon water for her.
She nodded, and a small smile came upon her face as she saw their wedding day photo. It was something that picked her up, having a wedding. Another chance to be happy since things were different now.. and others were stolen from her. It made her sick to her stomach, but she had to get on with life. Caesar was helping her to see the happiness in that. And she could never repay him for being there when nobody else was.
