Hagrid had felt deep love only once before. Fatherly love as a "small" boy. It was strong, but quite short-lived. Ever since the death of this dear man, Hagrid was unloved.
Quite unloved until the day of his secret union began with a beautiful, strong-minded, brilliant witch named Minerva.
Before Minerva, Hagrid had felt lost, unwanted, and unfulfilled. That is, before Minerva.
These two soul mates met at Hogwarts. At first, they were only colleagues. Nothing more. But after the arrival of Harry Potter, they were brought closer together by stress. resulting from the foul boy wandering around.
Yes, their love blossomed into a beautiful rose. A giant rose. It kept blossoming into many roses, and then finally a garden... a SECRET garden.
Then that fateful day came. They had to turn this garden into a park.

"Minerva, we need ter talk. I've got summat ter tell yeh," Hagrid said, with worry in his eyes. "I think one of them thar kids found out about us, Minerva. If yeh really love me, kill yerself with me tonight."
"Hagrid! You can't be serious! I love you like I love no other, but I won't kill myself for you. I just feel we should tell everyone. No matter what, we'll always have each other. But... but... we can't let anyone know that I'm pregnant with your twins," whispered Minerva into Hagrid's ear soothingly.
Hagrid agreed, and soon they made love awkwardly.
"HAGRID! STOP! I... I'm giving birth!!" screamed Minerva.
Hagrid, thinking he could help her by magic, fumbled with his umbrella and turned her into a horrible looking fern.
"NOOO," wailed Hagrid, "I've killed my only true love! MINERVA!"
Hagrid turned his own wand against himself and he turned into a giant fern as well.

For the next few days, a great search for the head of Gryffindor house and the grounds keeper Hagrid wreaked havoc all about Hogwarts.
Noone every realized they had turned into ferns.

The moral of the story is: Never use an umbrella indoors.
Oh, and I'm just kidding. I don't really own anything important.
