How It Came To This
Harry was one of the boys who everyone liked, he was captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, dating the prettiest girl at Hogwarts, and in other words, he was everything I hated. Well at one point he was…
This story begins my 6th year at Hogwarts I had just turned 17 and just as my life was beginning a while later I realized I had messed up everything. I remember everything that happened every step of the way. How could I ever forget? I never would.
"Hermione come on! Just this once?" Whined the voice of my best friend Ginny Weasley. She had just informed me that the head boy of Hufflepuff was throwing a party. Insane right? What an Idiot.
"Hermioneeeee come on! Can't you take a break from books for one night and have some fun?" She was practically squealing like a pig.
Ginny, who was one year below me, was known for being a bit, intense? For lack of better words. Only Merlin knows how we became best friends.
"Why would I want to go to a stupid party? And the head boy is throwing it? He could be expelled for something like that!" I said that as my nose was buried in some book. And if you haven't figured it out already I was the classic "geek" that every school had. Definitely not the party type.
"Just this once? And I promise will never ask you to attend some 'stupid' party again." Ginny was literally glittering when she said that. She never did ask me to go to a party again, though there is a better explanation why.
I remember walking down the corridors with Ginny beside me as we slowly approached the Hufflepuff common room. She was chatting about her latest boyfriend Dean Thomas. That's when I saw Harry for the first time that night. He was walking out of a nearby classroom we only made eye contact for a slight moment but when I saw his face I saw a stern yet hurt expression. Later I found out he and Cho Chang had broken up because he had found out that she was cheating on him with his close friend Draco Malfoy.
"Geez, I wonder what's got his bollocks in a twist." Said, Ginny, just as we entered The Hufflepuff Common Room.
"Gin! You got Hermy to come!" Said a fairly Tipsy Dean Thomas. "I knew you would be able to!" He spoke just before he gave her a sloppy kiss. "'C'mon babe less get you a drink." Ginny mouthed a quick "I'm sorry" before she wandered off with Dean towards the drinks.
"Well if it isn't Hermione Granger." I turned around to see one of my fellow Gryffindors, Ronald Weasley. I gave a loud sigh. "Why the long face beautiful?" He asked with a cheeky grin.
"I just thought you were someone more intellectual. I've been disappointed though." He gave me a weird look obviously meaning he had no idea what I was talking about.
"Here I got you a butterbeer." He handed me a bottle and I took it without hesitation. It was just butterbeer. Right?
Wrong. That was one of the first times I've ever felt so stupid in my life. After having at least four of the bottles of "Butterbeer" I definitely was not feeling like myself. And before I knew it I was swaying along with the awful wizarding world music.
"Go, girl!" I heard Lavender shout from somewhere in the room. Then suddenly I felt the room grow silent. Every head turned to someone who was walking toward the makeshift dance floor. All I could see at the moment was a fairly tall boy with raven colored hair approaching me. He offered me his hand and I took it.
I always wonder what would've happened if I didn't take Harry's hand that night. Maybe I wouldn't have experienced the pain the future had for me.
"I've never seen you at these parties." Said, Harry, as he spun me to the music. "Not really my thing," I replied with a hiccup and giggle. I GIGGLED! Who does that?
"I think it is…" He took a sip of the drink someone had handed him while we were dancing.
We danced and talked about stupid stuff. Cheesy stuff. And somehow I couldn't stop myself from taking more of the drinks that were offered to me. And neither could Harry.
Soon the party soon began to die down and I kept scanning the crowd for Ginny's blazing red hair but she was nowhere in sight.
"How is it that no guy has swept you up?" Harry asked. We were sitting on a yellow couch next to the fire. I just shrugged. Did he really have to ask that? I thought it was obvious why.
"You know you are quite beautiful. And I'm not trying to be a Fuckboy." He raised his hands in defense.
"You know Harry." I was slurring, "I used to think you were this...Jock-like dirtbag...but you're okay." Harry gave a real smile for the first time that night. Then he did the unexpected. He kissed me.
It was my first kiss. Then he stood up and took my hand leading me to one of the empty dormitory rooms…
He asked if it was okay and I whispered a shy yes. I had never had a boy look at me the way he did that night. It was breathtaking. We did a lot more than just kiss that night.
The next morning I woke up with the sun on my face and a warmth to the left of me. I had a pounding headache and as I stirred in the bed, memories of the previous night poured into my brain like a waterfall. I quickly sat up pulling the sheets around my body. I had a quick realization that Harry Potter, one of the most famous boys in the wizarding world, was fully nude beside me. All of a sudden he shifted and wrapped his arms around me so I was then laying beside him again. Except for this time, he was extremely close. So close that I felt certain parts of him pushing up against my back.
"Harry!" I whispered. "Psttt Harry!" He let out a slow "Mhhhh?"
"Please get off me," I said.
"Mhhh you smell nice." He replied taking a whiff of my hair.
"Thanks, but could you let me go?" I said nervously.
"Mmk Fine." He slowly began to untangle himself from me.
I sat up again making sure the sheet was wrapped all around me. Harry reached to grab his glasses not caring to cover himself up.
I slowly began to panic realizing what I had done. Finding my discarded undergarments I quickly put them on.
"Hermione, what's the rush?" Asked Harry. I was panicking a lot. "Erm Harry I think we made a mistake. I'm not the kind of girl that would do something like this… I don't know what got into me last night…" I had tears pooling up in my eyes as I put my skirt on and buttoned my shirt.
"No don't go!" Yelled Harry as I walked toward the door. "Sorry," I said just before I left.
Later that day Ginny found me crying In my dormitory room. I bawled as I explained to her what happened.
"You had SEX with the Harry Potter?" I cried more.
"Oh, no way he really that bad?" I began sobbing.
Ginny let out a large gasp. "Did he force you to do it?" she asked cautiously.
I shook my head no with wide eyes. "It was consensual."
"Then what's wrong Mi?"
I told her how it was my first time and how I never thought I would have a one night stand. She was very understanding and helped me emotionally.
I loaded myself with work to keep busy and try to forget what happened between me and Harry Potter that night. It wasn't until 6 weeks after the party did I realized we really screwed up.
"Miss Granger you said you haven't been feeling that well?" Madam Pomfrey asked me one chilly December day. I nodded. "Okay dear just let me run some tests." she did some complicated flicks with her and then all of a sudden her face went blank.
"When was the last date of your menstrual cycle?" I thought for a moment. "I...I don't know." Tears began to weld up in my eyes.
"Miss Granger...You are expecting." That's all she said.
At that very moment, my mind was traveling a million miles per second.
She said I was just about 6 weeks and told me about my options. I told her that no matter what abortion was not an option. She actually said she was happy I felt that way.
I told Ginny that same day. She was shocked of course. I still was too. She told me that no matter what she would be there for me. I was glad.
It wasn't until two days before Christmas break did I tell Harry.
I was walking into the library when I saw him. I was just about to turn around and leave but he saw me.
"Hermione wait!" I stopped in my tracks.
"Hey…" I said.
"You've been rather distant...You know I have been thinking a lot and I mean a lot lately," I wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying, "and I'm really sorry about what happened at the party but I don't regret it because it was amazing," I thought now or never, "anyway I was thinking maybe after the break you would like to go-"
"I'm pregnant," I spoke calmly.
Harry stopped and took a step back. "What?" He asked.
Tears were already falling down my cheeks as I looked into his deep emerald eyes. "I'm pregnant and you're the father." I was too young to be saying that only 17. And to say that Harry looked shocked was an understatement. I can't even explain what he looked like.
He sat there with his jaw to the floor and eyes wide for what seemed like ages.
"W….How...When did you find out?" He gaped. "At the beginning of the month," I told him. He ran his hand through his wild hair.
"I'll talk to you after break Harry. After I tell my parents." I walked off leaving him staring at the floor.
Telling my parents was not fun. Not at all.
