SIX MONTHS FORGOTTEN

Clary could feel the tears running down her face as she talked "what do you mean, Chase?" she could barely cough up the words as she looked at him with a terrified look in her eyes. They were standing in his room, she with her tearstained face and he with eyes shining with indifference.

"Listen, I didn't mean to hurt you, I actually really liked you, right from the start" he said "but I just don't feel anything anymore. I'm really thankful for all the things that you've done for me, but it wouldn't be fair to either of us if I pretended to still be in love with you".

She pinched her arm as hard as she could, but the tears just wouldn't stop running and eventually she gave up. She put all her strength in her next words; "Please just tell me… Is this because of another girl?". Long pause. Chase started stuttering and she had to come closer to him to hear his voice. "It's not just because of that, I really don't think we were meant be together."

"So what you're trying to say is; you used six months of flirting and almost all of your time on me and then when you finally got me to bed you decided to break up and go on to the next girl?" He smiled a little until he saw the look in her eyes and the smile shattered, Chase opened his mouth to start talking again, but she interrupted him before he could say another word. "Just shut up. I really don't need to hear this." With those words she ran out of his house and out to the street. She didn't stop running until she was out of his sight and then she fell to the ground, crying her eyes out with her shoulders shaking and her head in her hands.

When she didn't have any more tears left and her throat was sore she looked up and saw that the sky had turned dark and the streetlights were on. Clary had no idea of how long she been lying on the ground, but she shivered in the cold December-air and decided to walk home. She picked up her backpack and took out her phone. 16 missed calls from Simon. 16 missed calls that she didn't have enough strength to answer. She started walking slowly, and then faster and faster. She wanted to put as much space between her and Chase as possible and when she only had 50 metres left to her house she started sprinting. Up the stairs, through the door and up to her room. She fell asleep as soon as she laid down on the bed and slept without a single dream disturbing her mind.
