"It's time for bed, Kiera." Sherlock picked up his six year-old daughter from her spot on the floor playing with her chemistry set.

"But I'm not tired! Where is mummy? She was supposed to tell me a bedtime story!" She looked at him before looking around for her mother.

"Mummy had a long day at work, so she is asleep already. I can tell you a bedtime story instead." Sherlock smiled confidently as he tucked her into bed. He pulled over a small stool and sat down as he cleared his throat.

Keira pouted as she crossed her arms. "But your stories don't have happy endings! I like the fairytales mummy makes up. Can you tell me a fairytale, daddy?"

The detective quickly searched his Mind Palace. "Hmmm, I think I know the perfect one."

Keira settled into a comfortable position and listened to her dad intently.

"Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who worked in a castle called Bart's. The princess was kind, loyal, and strong. There was also a knight in the kingdom who liked to solve mysteries. Although he was very smart, the knight was often arrogant and rude. He would often visit the dungeons in castle of Bart, where the princess worked. Sometimes he would go there for work or to conduct experiments, but sometimes he would go just to spend time with the princess. The knight didn't always treat the princess with kindness, but she saw through his beastly exterior and loved him anyway. One day, the knight had to climb to the top of the highest tower to face the villain who wanted to rule the knight was able to defeat the villain, but he couldn't have done it without the princess's help. That was when the knight realized that he needed the princess very much and that he was in love with her too."

"Did they live happily ever after daddy?" Keira asked sleepily, as she began to drift off to sleep.

Sherlock smiled fondly as he leaned over to kiss her on the top of her head. "They did love, they did."
