Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or the Quibbler. Unfortunately.
The battle was over and she had survived. She was still here and she still had her friends and her life. She looked over the top of the upside down Quibbler and found Ron, Hermione, Harry, Ginny and Neville wrapped up in their own thoughts. Nobody spoke and to be honest she was quite glad. She didn't want to talk about the battle, it was too painful. She had lost 4 people who were close to her. Her favourite teacher, professor Lupin, the auror who had saved her in the ministry Tonks, Fred Weasley from the DA and her father. She had been told that he had been killed by the death eaters but she knew that wasn't true. She was sure he had probably tripped on the invisible, spotted Tramacot. She supposed she was an orphan now, like Neville and Harry. It might not be so bad she hoped, her friends would always help her. But her father and she had always been a team. She'd have to run the Quibbler on her own now and that wasn't right. Her eyes filled with tears but she didn't let them fall. At that moment her friends all had thoughts and worries of their own. She didn't want to bother them with hers. She went back to reading and one by one the DA left the room and went upstairs. Eventually it was just her and Neville, he appeared to be reading a book about plants in Albania and she briefly wondered if there were any Larabelle flowers there. Her dad had loved Larabelle flowers, their garden had been full of them but now they were all gone. Destroyed by the death eaters, along with her father. Neville yawned across from her and turned to leave. Then he turned back.
"Luna-I am sorry about your father."
"Thank you. It is sad but I still have the DA and Hogwarts." She smiled feebly.
"Well if you need anything just use this." He pulled Hermione's coin from his pocket and showed it to her. This time she smiled more broadly. When she had been captured this was how she'd kept in contact with Ginny and Neville. Neville was by the door when she called to him.
"Neville, do you know the Larabelle?"
"The plant, yeah, it grows……………"
She leapt up and dragged him across the room and out the porthole. They left a note for Ginny, Ron, Hermione and Harry. She knew they would understand. It wasn't like she wasn't coming back to Hogwarts but she had to do something before she returned in September. Then they went off in search of the beautiful flower.
2 months later
A couple entered the graveyard hand in hand. The girl's hair was long and pale and her skin was tanned from travelling. The boy was brown and his brown hair was sticking out in odd directions. They were a good looking couple; both had large eyes and windswept hair. They walked slowly towards a grave and laid down a bouquet of beautiful red and yellow fire flowers, the Larabelle.
"Thankyou." The girl whispered, reaching up and kissing the boy. He blushed and returned the kiss. "You're welcome." They stayed at the grave for a couple of minutes then headed back off into the red and yellow fiery sunset that matched the flowers they had just placed on the grave. Their hands were still entwined and behind them the marble grave glistened in the sun. There was an inscription on it carved in gold.
