Life Goes On?

Disclaimer: I own nothing, not the characters, not the places. They belong to the Tolkien Family.

Author's note: I'll start off by saying this, don't expect an amazing piece of work. I'm an artist not a writer, but I had this feeling and no drawing could express it. Only words could. This could have really been any character, but I choose Elrond because he is my favorite. I would also like to acknowledge this story's Arda accuracy has been dash a bit to better express the theme and the characters are a bit oc so please bear with me and I hope you enjoy.

At the time of this story Elrond is about an age equivalent to 16.

The moon stood high in the night sky, the silver scythe hung over Lindon reminding

the city or the grim reality of Arda. Elrond lay awake in his bed, he looked over to the bed on the other side of the room, his brother was fast asleep. He sighed, the sound of the door in the next room closing caught his attention. "Ereinion! We can not go on like this much longer! To many have died... and the ones who have survived are worse off." Elrond lay as quietly as he could trying to hear the conversation next door. "I know... but we can not suffer to pull out all the troops lest Sauron's advantage grow greater." "They are traumatized! The things they have seen, heard ..., sire.." Elrond was now totally still, he knew this was something serious. "How bad.." "It's the mental equivalent to ... um.. well losing a parent at a young age." "OH Shut up!" Elrond suddenly cried. Seconds later the door to his room burst open. Gil- Galad stood in the doorway gazing at Elrond. There was no need to ask, the question was obvious. "Its not true... what kind of pathetic excu..." Elrond stopped, he was not cruel.. but what he had heard it didn't seem right to him. " I mean..if I can deal with.. I lost both of my parents and you don't see me sitting around cryi..." he cut himself off, it had come back. "I.. I need to go outside for a few moments... please." The king nodded and stood aside.

Elornd lay in the grass looking up at the stars.

- Flashback -

Elrond lay in the grass looking up at the stars, the words still ring in his head. He can't remember exactly what they had said.. It was a plain and simple message though. His parents were gone, he would not see them again.. ever. Elros cries openly, Elrond laid in the grass staring up at the stars.

- End Flasback-

The realization slammed on Elrond's conscious. I didn't cry! I couldn't cry. I still have not. I never have! "Why cant I ? Elros could, but I was so young, I could not have understood."

"But now I still can not. I never knew them!"

"Elros could cry! Everyone is different though, what complies to one can not comply to another!" his breath quickened.

"Not only Elros, others!" Everyone but me! That can not be right, I could not have been the only one!" his heart pounded in his chest.

"Am I a monster!"

No!

But yes!

N-no!

NO!"

He pounded his fists into the soft ground with all his weight. "I don't know."

He stay frozen in that position for what seemed like all eternity to him. His heart rate slowed back down and his breathing was calm once again. The only sound that could be heard in the still not was the lapping of the gentle waves of the lake next to him. Finally he stood up and looked at his reflection in th silver pool, the stars shone behind him. The fight had once again come and gone and still there was no answer.

"Will I ever find my truth?"

The End.

This is pretty much based on a true event, and is dedicated to my mother, rest in peace. Maybe one day I will find my answer.
