"Do you want to go on a date?"
The question had stunned him. He hadn't expected it at all. Why would Aeris want to go on a date with him? She couldn't have been taking the bodyguard deal seriously could she? He blinked.
"What?"
She shook her head and giggled. "A DA-TE!" she teased. "Haven't you ever been on one?" He run his hand through his hair, looking away from her in embarrassment.
"Not a real one," he admitted shyly. Aeris smiled warmly and stepped forwards, taking position behind him.
"Nope, just a mixed up kid," she said playfully, shoving him towards the door. He only put in a half-hearted attempt of throwing her off though and by the time they stepped over the threshold, he wasn't fighting her at all.
She grabbed his arm and led him down the stairs and out towards the gravestones that led to the different attractions of the theme park. She turned to him.
"Where do you want to go then?" He shrugged.
"Wherever you want to," he replied. He knew better than to say the Battle Square or the Arcade games, girls didn't tend to appreciate that gesture much on dates.
"Let's get some dinner first," she suggested, turning him back towards the hotel. "We can decide what to do then, okay?"
Cloud flushed as she led them back to the Hotel. Dinner? That was what couples did! He glanced at Aeris from the corner of his eyes. Did she want them to become a couple? Cloud knew, no matter how much he tried to deny it, that he wanted that too. She looked at him, feeling his gaze and smiled.
"You okay?" she asked gently. Cloud nodded. "You sure?"
"I'm fine," he replied, using his free hand to run through his hair again. She let her hand slip into his and squeeze slightly, grinning at him as she did so.
"Good," she answered. "Because I don't want my bodyguard being sad." She leaned up and kissed him lightly on the cheek, giggling as Cloud blushed all over again. Something told her dinner was going to be interesting.
