Growing up in the slums had been an advantage for Aeris Gainsborough as she grew up. She soon learned every allyway that she could escape down, every hiding place to try and escape the Turks. It had become a daily thing for her and even having a first class Soldier boyfriend hardly comforted her because he was always away on missions.

But when a blonde man fell through her Church roof, some deep instinct told her there was nothing to fear anymore. The Planet trusted the injured man before her and so did she. That was why she asked him to be her bodyguard. She knew he would protect her. She didn't have to be afraid anymore.

That was why, when she was captured by Tseng while tending to one of Cloud's friends, she wasn't afraid. She didn't flinch as the President threatened to torture the information out of her. She didn't fear the way Hojo peered at her through the glass of the container he kept her in.

And Cloud came for her. He saved her, just as she knew he would.

"I knew Cloud would come for me."

There was nothing to fear anymore. Cloud was always going to be there.
