The Doctor braced himself as the TARDIS shuddered to a stop. The landing drew Jack and Rose to the console room, evidence of their recent, good-natured argument still dusting their clothes.
Before the war had turned it into a desolate, denuded landscape, the planet had been a tourist hub. Now, all signs of habitation had been blasted into rubble, the population long since forgotten.
Jack clenched his teeth; it wasn't the first war zone he'd seen and he doubted be the last. He turned back to find Rose kneeling beside a small, green shoot, the Doctor's hand on her shoulder.
