"Let's face it Gerry, everyone would be better off without me." The worlds played around in her head as she fell asleep. She hadn't known she was feeling it but it'd come out in an argument with Gerry, who was now asleep beside her.
Gerry sat at a bar stool having clearly had too much to drink. He didn't look as smart as he usually did and the smile that was usually painted across his face had been replaced by quite a few wrinkles. Sandra looked around but in whatever this was, she didn't feature which was probably just as well as she watched Gerry flirt with anything in a skirt that walked past him.
"What's going on?" Sandra asked to no one in particular.
"You're dreaming Sandra." A voice told her.
"Who's that?!"
"I'm your guardian angel."
"Yeah right." Sandra frowned skeptically, "What's going on?"
"This is a world where you don't exist. Gerry's married for the fourth time and is looking for a bit on the side to distract him from his home life as he's recently been declared bankrupt."
"But what about UCOS?" Sandra asked quietly as she suffered from the shock of what she was hearing.
"You never existed, therefore you never shot that dog meaning that you never got made to set up UCOS."
"And he wasn't chosen for something similar?"
"Who else was going to give him a chance? His record isn't exactly squeaky clean. His gambling problem got worse and worse and well you can see what happened. You saved him Sandra." The scene she was watching changed from a pub to a snowy dark night at a bridge.
"No I don't want to see this!" Sandra gasped as a very drunk Gerry stumbled into the bridge. "He wont…will he?"
"His life has fallen apart, his marriage is over by now, his house has been repossessed and he's bankrupt."
"Yeah but he wouldn't kill himself, not since he saw that young man step out in front of a train." Sandra tried in an attempt to convince herself.
"Never happened." Gerry stood up onto the bridge and with in seconds he was gone.
"Sandra wake up." Gerry shook her and was now faced with a confused Sandra. "You were screaming."
"But you were…I didn't mean it Gerry. I didn't mean it when I said you were all better off without me. I love you Gerry and I could and would never leave you." Sandra said through her tears.
"Shh, baby I know you didn't mean it and I couldn't be without you either. I love you more."
"Good." She said as Gerry pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her.
"Now back to sleep."
