When I first heard the original poem of the same name, my mind instantly went to Star Trek, since I've heard the loss of any of the captains compared to this poem. As I listened to the poem, my mind suddenly had a brilliant idea, a point of view that I doubt many have tried to use, even with relation to this poem. If you can guess the P.O.V and all characters mentioned in this poem, review with your answers. I'll send you a private message with the results. All other reviews are appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Trek, Star Trek: 2009, or the original O Captain! My Captain! poem. Those are from the great creative minds of Gene Roddenberry, J.J. Abrams, and Walt Whitman respectively.

O Captain! My Captain!

The Trekkie Version of a Classic Poem

Oh Captain! My Captain! Our trying mission is done;
The crew has weather'd every blast, the battle we fought is won;
Earth is near, the transmissions I hear; the people all rejoicing,
While follow eyes my steady hull, the crew grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on my bridge my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! My Captain! Rise up and hear the cheers;
Rise up- for you the torpedo is fired- for you the bagpipes played;
For you messages and ribbon'd awards- for you space dock a-crowding;
For you they hail, the swaying cadets, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! Dear protector!
Your chair against your head;
It is some hologram that on my bridge,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
Our friend does not feel your arm, he has no pulse or will;
The crew docked safe and sound, their voyage closed and done;
From trying mission, as victor, I come in peace won;
Rejoice, O Earth, and chime, O klaxons!
But he, with mournful tread,
Walks my bridge my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
