I'll Admit it
Tony wasn't the type to be shy or nervous. If anything he was exactly the opposite. People saw him as fearless, brave, and reckless. Then why was he afraid of telling Steve that every time he saw him he felt the equivalent of fireworks popping in his chest? Or that seeing him smile made him jumpy and that nothing else mattered? It frustrated Tony to no end that he wasn't able to tell him. Maybe today would be the day. Tony didn't want to jeopardize their friendship, but he didn't think he could take it anymore. He had to get this off his chest. Nothing could stop him today. He just had to get Steve alone for two seconds. If he was rejected then well, at least this hiding would let go of its choke hold on him and he could breathe again. Sure, things would be awkward between him and Steve, but at least he'd know that I would do anything for him. Oh who was he kidding? Tony decided to come out to someone... Bruce! Yes, Bruce he could trust. He was probably in the lab.
Stark waltzed into Bruce's lab, faking confidence. He had to be composed. After all, he wouldn't want Bruce to suspect anything yet.
"What's wrong Tony?" Bruce immediately asked looking up from his microscope.
Damn... You couldn't get anything past the guy. He wasn't prepared for this.
"I, well, you see, it's..."
Bruce smirked at him, "It's kinda obvious Tony. You'd have to be blind not to notice."
"I have no idea what you're going on about, but there is nothing wrong with m-"
"Of course there's nothing wrong with you. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being gay. It's like some people are born left handed, it's less common but there's nothing wrong with it."
Tony's jaw dropped. This was partially good. He accepted him, but could it really be that obvious?
He cleared his throat, "How'd you know?"
Bruce chuckled again, "We've all set wagers on when you'd admit to Cap on how you felt. Seriously, the way you look at him couldn't be any more apparent than if it were written in a movie script. It's cute honestly. Heartwarming even."
For once in his life Tony was speechless.
"Go on Tony. You know he feels the same about you."
"You really think so?" All of a sudden he felt like a 12 year old girl with a hopeless crush.
"Yes, yes, yes. I do," Bruce nudged him towards the door. "Go on."
Tony wasted no time. He had to go before he changed his mind. Steve was looking out the window looking quite thoughtful, like he did from time to time. He heard Tony enter the room and turned around quickly.
"Hello Tony," He simply said.
"Hey Steve," Tony started to get nervous. "So uh yeah I just wanted to uh well-"
A smile tugged at the corner of Steve's mouth, "You don't have to be flusterd Tony. What's up?"
But once again Tony, being Tony, preferred to show rather than tell.
Without warning, he kissed Steve sweetly. It was very different from how he usually kissed. It wasn't lust or just attraction. There was much more meaning behind it. He wanted to show Steve that he loved him, and that he was more than just attracted to him. They both pulled back.
"I guess what I mean to say is that-"
"I love you," Steve finished.
"Wait, do you..."
"Yes Tony. I do."
