What Not to Wear
"How does this look?"
Adam turned to look at Fiona, not moving from his place on her couch. "Good," he told her.
Fiona rolled her eyes. "You've said that about every outfit I've tried on."
He smiled as he got off the couch and moved over to her. "That's because everything you try on looks good."
"You're such a charmer," she teased as he pulled her into his arms. "Adam," she mumbled, pushing him away as he began to kiss her. "Really, I need help picking something out."
He sighed. "We're just going out with Eli and Clare. Whatever you wear will be fine. In fact, you're probably gonna be overdressed compared to them no matter what you wear."
She groaned, rolling her eyes again as she turned to go back to her room. "Perfect. Just what I need, for your friends to think I'm some superficial, spoiled…"
"They don't think that," he told her, cutting her off. He took her hand. "Come on, we're gonna be late."
"I just want to try on one more…"
"Fiona," he said, letting out a quick laugh. "Really, you look fine. Why are you stressing over this?"
"This is the first time we've been out with them. I mean, just the four of us when the hottest topic isn't the booger that was stuck in Mr. Hall's mustache. You've been out with Holly J and Declan. You know them. I don't know your friends."
"Yes, you do…" he began, but she shook her head.
"Not as well as I want to. I know how important they are to you. I want them to like me."
"What's not to like?" He kissed her quickly, then released her hand. "Wear the blue dress." She slipped quickly into her bedroom to change once more. "Just hurry up," he told her. "If we don't get there soon, Eli's gonna order for us."
"What's wrong with that?" Fiona asked through the closed door of her bedroom.
He sighed as she opened the door again, now wearing a pale blue spaghetti strapped dress. "You're right," he said. "Maybe you don't know my friends."
