"Ianto stay with me…"

The voice seemed to echo through his ears as he struggled to keep his eyes open. Taking in Jacks flawless face for what Ianto knew would be last time, thoughts raced though his mind. He knew of course that one day this was going to happen; Jack was immortal, cursed to watch anyone he ever loved die. But Ianto wasn't ready; he didn't want to leave just yet. His eyes started to over flow with tears, he felt Jacks grip tighten around him.

"Please…" Jack begged.

Ianto let out a small sob. "I'm sorry…I…I wanted to spend forever with you" he replied, reaching up weakly to cup Jacks damp cheek. He wasn't prepared for this moment. Nothing could ever prepare you to say goodbye to someone you love so deeply, knowing that he had no choice, that he had to move on with life without you. Ianto had wanted to spend forever with this man, and now it seemed that his so called forever was running out. His eyes blurred in and out of focus as he opened his mouth slightly, drawing in one last breath. "I love you…" he spoke; these would be his final words. The weak hand that had been fighting with all its might to keep hold of Jacks cheek now fell softly to its owner's side, knowing that its battle was over.

Jacks grip loosened as a wave of loss and defeat flooded him. "No…" he whispered brokenly. But Ianto was gone, and nothing Jack tried to do would ever bring him back. Gazing down in disbelief, Jacks tears fell from his stained cheeks and into Iantos soft hair. Brushing a hand over Iantos eyes, Jack closed them, knowing that they would never even glance at him again. Iantos time had come to an end, and to Jack it wasn't fair. A sudden rush of anger filled Jack, there was so many things he wanted to do with Ianto, so much more that Jack had wanted to show him. But looking down at the still Ianto Jones, Jacks heart swelled with over whelming pain, as he realized that Iantos forever had run out. Letting a hand run through Iantos hair and closing his eyes, Jack lay down, still holding Iantos limp form in his arms. 'Forever just isn't enough…' he thought before the virus that had so ruthlessly taken his lover away from him now took Jack, into what he knew was his most painful death.
